Finally getting around to cleaning my puter. Can you recommend a backup program? It has been too long since I've backed up and maybe there is something new and better out there. Thanks DICK

What did you use for backups before? I'm backing up to WD Ultra external hard drive. I got to looking and it has a backup program on it. So--I used it! Sorry- I should have investigated further before asking. Thanks DICK

I highly recommend Backup Pro 14 published by Ashampoo. I've been using it for years prior to Ashampoo buying it. Well supported, easy to use and reasonably priced and often discounted. It backs up my 4 computers nightly.

I keep getting prompted to upgrade to Pro 14 but don't see the need at the moment.
I use a lot of Ashampoo products and find them excellent value for money.

I also like the Ashampoo Pro Backup. I am still on Version 10 and it works very well with no problems. I have it on my PC and my Laptop. I was recommnended to me by budgall back before Ashampoo purchased it from Ocster. I have used it ever since. You can get Version 14 for only $20 on the site here for the next 9 days www.ashampoo.com/en-us/shop (85% discount) There is also a simpler Version Ashampoo 2020 for $16 from here www.ashampoo.com/en/usd/pin/1459/security-software/backup-2020. Also on my PC I have Aomei Backupper Standard which is Freeware and also works well. www.ubackup.com/download.html

I'll throw in something different - Syncback. There are free and pro versions and I am finding the free version perfectly fine. I run a cycle of scheduled backups every night arranged so everything gets backed up at least once a week and important stuff more often. The free version can be found at www.2brightsparks.com/freeware/index.htmlHowever, it's really better to image rather than back up file by file your operating system (usually C:/Windows). For that I use EaseUS ToDo Backup (also free).

I completely endorse Paul's SyncBack suggestion. I have used it for many years. I don't have it scheduled but run it any time I have changed anything in my pictures or documents, which is most days. I have a 'Group" set up which when I click 'Run" it syncs the 4 folders in the group with identical ones on my back up drive and usually it takes a very short time. I have i configured to delete any files in the backup that are not in the source files, but you can also choose to not do that.

I also specifically back up (every night) my Outlook emails folder, and often also often run that one manually during the day, particularly after I have emptied the Deleted emails folder.
