Is it up to date? This key to keeping any browser running as it should. I don't use Chrome but I believe the latest version is 84.0.
There are suggestions found here that possibly can help you fix things.

These are the instructions directly from Google:
On your computer, close all Chrome windows and tabs. Click the Start menu Start menu and then Settings. Click Apps. Under "Apps & features," find and click Google Chrome. Click Uninstall. Confirm by clicking Uninstall. To delete your profile information, like bookmarks and history, check "Also delete your browsing data." Click Uninstall.
Once you have done that be sure that you shut down and restart your computer.

I guess you mean the uninstall attempt. So you used the instructions I posted from Chrome itself?
Did you clean the cache? Have you run AdwCleaner from Malwarebytes'? It specifically cleans adware, variant of malware that is hard to find and not found by Malwarebytes' itself. The instructions for it are in the Preliminary Cleanup Steps in the Virus and Malware Help Section.
What do you mean it won't uninstall? Are all programs closed? A
I use Firefox and EDGE. I've never had problems with Firefox running slow. Latest version is 76.0.1.
I really like EDGE. This new one, Version 81.0.416.72 is made possible by the Chromium open source project and runs extremely well.

You now need to run the regular Malwarebytes' program again and let it clean anything it finds. Very often it cannot find something because it is hidden but since AdwCleaner found & removed things then it may be there could be others that now can be found by Malwarebytes'.
Do you have an anti virus program on the computer or do you have Windows Defender turned on? You must keep your computer secure. These programs help you do that.

If the browser is working fine since the running of AdwCleaner then this is proof the slowdown was caused by malware. To keep the computer safer then you should add Malwarebytes' Browser Guard to both Chrome and EDGE. It blocks 3rd party ads and trackers, stops browser hijackers and blocks web pages that contain malware. It is really a great add-on and does help speed things up too.

sometime today chrome has started loading at a snails pace ..i can use edge and it seems to do just fine. Chrome has always run good for me. any suggestions? Just some thoughts.... If the whole internet via all browsers was slow, that is happening a lot now with so many folks at home using their computers at the same time and overcrowding the Internet .... If it was only Chrome browser that was slow at the moment (you said Edge was fine) there is possibility that it was updating in the background which it does often and tends to slow during those moments... During the subsequent checks and security program runnings you did following Judy's great directions you had to shutdown and restart the machine as part of the operations..... Do you connect that machine via WiFi or is it hard connected by ethernet cable to a modem? The simple steps of shutting down, waiting a few moments, and then restarting your machine will give the computer an opportunity to clear itself of temp files and trash and all the little hiccups with registry, etc... all the normal use little things that tend to clog and slow a computer with normal use..... If you connect via WiFi it is a good idea to perhaps weekly shut down the computer and then the modem/router for a few moments, then restart the modem/router and wait for it to get fully running and then the computer can be restarted.....That not only tends to correct minor glitches but recreates a speedy and normal connection to the Internet for all of your browsers..... Shutting down completely and rebooting the entire system (modem and computer, whether ethernet wired or WiFi connected) is somewhat like the old adage of taking 2 aspirins and glass of water and then re-calling the doctor in the morning... that good nights rest often makes an ill feeling disappear in the morning and temp problem solved.... Just something we should practice weekly and our systems respond happily to our care..... EDIT**** See while I was slow typing the response from Mr Bill appeared, sorry Mr. Bill... We had the same thought at same time....LOL....

Both bill and bigtoe's suggestion to shutdown/reboot will often solve problems are correct but I do want to point out that the slowness was with Chrome only so this likely would not have fixed the problem. Could Chrome have been updating? Possibly, however I want to note that the OP ran AdwCleaner as directed and it DID find and remove malware. This very likely was the cause of the problem.

This excellent extension was released in Sept. 2019. It protects against four core types of threats: ads & trackers, malware, scams, and potentially unwanted programs. I also use SpywareBlaster and they work just fine together.
Malwarebytes' Browser Guard adds an icon to the browser's toolbar that indicates the number of elements found on the page you are visiting. If you click on that icon it will show you how many and exactly what type of malware was blocked. It works great. Highly recommended.

Just a note regarding rebooting a windows 10 and 8 computers. Unlike previous versions a Restart rather than a Shutdown is the way to go. By default windows 10 has the Fast Startup feature on so unless you have disabled that shutting down does not completely shut down but goes into a hibernation state to enable a faster startup. Using Restart gives a full shutdown. This explains it far better than I can. www.howtogeek.com/349114/shutting-down-doesnt-fully-shut-down-windows-10-but-restarting-it-does/

For some unknown reason I have not seen this thread until now. I do want to recommend to everyone that the suggestion made by MrBill and followed up on by Everton (doing a restart)fixes an awful lot of computer problems if mot most of them. It's the first thing I do (and lot's of times the last thing I do) to fix a problem computer. Everton's link is worth reading.
