I want to upgrade the memory on my Dell Inspiron 17 5676. Now I used to build PC'S. I saw a video first on upgrading this and the tools and screws are completely different. I think I remember Jholland 1964 that you had this laptop. Did you open it? I'd appreciate any any advice. I think the kit needs a Ph000 and maybe a Ph0000 screwdriver for the screws under the CD drive.

My Dell laptop is an Inspiron 17 5759 not a 5676 and I have never opened it up so I can't help you. Where did you see this video? Did you check on the Dell site?
How much memory do you have in yours? Mine came with 8GB.

This site can scan your PC and tell you what you have and what you can add. You do not nave to buy from them.

Thanks Judy and Mr.Bill I watched this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqQao1zcgII&t=166s which worked out pretty well for opening the laptop with PC toolkit, though some of the screws could loosen, but I had to turn the thing over and let a couple of them drop out. The screws under the CD drive need super small screwdrivers. There's also prying tools necessary for laptops apparently. Thanks for that scan site. I must have misinterpreted the max memory for this to be 2 modules of 16 gigs when it actually takes 2x8. I bought a 16 gig module from them. Since I didn't open it, I'm sure they'll refund or exchange.Maybe their support can also tell me what tools I need. Thanks again.

If you purchased from Crucial then yes, they do allow exchanges or returns if you purchased the wrong item.
