The task bar is across the bottom where I want it. But when I download something it creates a bar across the the bottom on top of the taskbar. And that's where the download bar is, it's hard to see, and I would like to have up along the left or right side, even if the taskbar was on the left side it only shows across the bottom. Any one have any luck moving it ?

You've got me totally confused. What bar at the bottom? Do you mean the Taskbar?
Can you post a screenshot?

I am with you Barney. I have never had any type of Download bar on any of the browsers I have used over the years which include the ones on my computer right now; Firefox, EDGE, Opera, Vivaldi, none of which have a Download Bar. None of the other browsers I have tried out have never had a Download Bar so, like Barney, I have never seen one in all the years I have owned a computer.
Downloads, by default, go to the Downloads Folder unless a person changes that. I have changed that in all of my browsers so that my downloads all go to my desktop so I can easily find them.
On Firefox I can see all downloads done by going to Tools, Downloads. All recent downloads will show there until they are manually cleared.
On Edge recent downloads scan be found by clicking the 3 dots, upper right corner and you'll see one of the choices is Downloads. This will show recent downloads done using EDGE.
Vivaldi, click the "V" upper left corner, View, Downloads Panel which then opens on the Left Side of the Browser
Opera, Click "O" on upper left corner and choose Downloads and recent downloads done with Opera will show.
None of these four browsers has a download bar as described, at lease none of mine do.
I have never had Google Chrome and never use Internet Explorer so I cannot speak to those

In Google Chrome all you need to do is click the X at the right of the download bar and it will disappear. The download will continue. Ctrl+J will open your download page, from there you can open the folder where your downloads are saved which will be C:\Users\(your name)\Downloads unless you have changed the default folder. As jholland stated it is a good idea to change that to the desktop to make finding downloads easier.

Like everyone else I have never seem a download bar. All my downloads are directed to a special download folder on my computer. Like Barney, I'd like to see a screenshot to see what we are trying to deal with.

Think this might be what the OP is looking for.

Think this might be what the OP is looking for.
I believe the OP can see the download bar, what he actually wants is to move it from atop the taskbar and place it someplace else. I have found pretty much only the same info found by Barney on several other sites and posted by Everton but have found nothing about being able to move it to another location. I believe OP may be out of luck. Try one of the other suggestions given here that makes it very easy to find your downloads, either have them sent to the desktop or create another folder besides the default download folder and place that folder where you want it.

I think Barney found it. It is actually displayed as part of the browser window and not the taskbar which we all assumed the OP was talking about. Being part of the browser window it is not movable. Close the browser and it goes away.

I honestly don’t see there is any problem with Google Chrome when it can easily be clicked off. There are also several extensions available that will auto hide the bar. As I said before any current download will continue with or without the bar being visible. i have not seen any way to change the position of it

There is no download bar in FireFox but there is in Chrome and Edge. The attachment I have added here is a screenshot of the Edge one.
Like Chrome it has an X to click out of on the right side. It never covers my taskbar in either browser. All I can think of is that the OP has the Taskbar set to auto hide.

The OP has said that he does see the download bar, what he doesn't like is the location because the location makes it hard to see, he does see it. He wants to move it elsewhere.

Yes I do understand that they see the download bar and want it moved. I just posted the screenshot as asked for in Reply #9 and because some of you said you have never ever seen one. There must be a setting somewhere that prevents it from appearing for some. If the OP has not removed their downloads from the list in the bar it will have become very large. They say it covers the taskbar. It does not for me but there is never anything in it except for the one item being downloaded. I don't use IE but opened it up and downloaded something and it has a bar as well, asking what to do with the download - save, open or cancel. Just like the other two browsers I mentioned it can be X'd out of and the download will continue.
It appears well established that it can not have its position changed.
