My grandchild deleted the YouTube icon on my iPhone start page. Can anyone tell me how to get it back? I still have the you tube account but without the icon it's harder to find. Any help would be appreciated.

My grandchild deleted the YouTube icon on my iPhone start page. Can anyone tell me how to get it back? I still have the you tube account but without the icon it's harder to find. Any help would be appreciated. Been there, done that.... .... Just open the App Store app (that big blue A on your Home Screen ).... Click the Search link at the bottom right of that page and type in your search term of "You Tube"... the one you had will show with a down arrow in a cloud image or just select the one you want and re-download that app... You won't be charged again if you had a paid for app ....You can tap on and hold down on the downloaded new icon on your Home page until it starts shaking and then drag it to the page you want it to be or into the folder that originally contained it if you use folders on your home page(s) ........ Also, before you do this you might want to be sure your grandchild didn't just drag the app to one of the other home pages by scrolling through your couple of home pages to see all your app icons... kids sometimes will do that for their convenience and will forget to drag the icon back to its original home page spot..... Any apps, whether free or paid, are stored in your Apple ID account when you are logged in to it and can be located there, even if the app creator removed the app from the App Store so always available again to you without you having to pay for them again.... Here's a link with some pictures to help if my verbal steps are confusing...... with all this staying at home during the COVID pandemic times we're going through, I can't guarantee that my mind is always clear thinking..... www.techbout.com/restore-deleted-apps-iphone-ipad-7549/ Had to make funeral arrangements today for a former nursing cohort of my wife who had no family outside of the Philippines and died due to COVID infection she just obtained in a rehab facility she was being "cared for" at due to stroke difficulties so thought processes are a little off today..... Good Luck and wear a mask when out of the house.....

Nova, .... Just a separate suggestion or thought... If your grandchild/grandchildren will be periodically using your iPhone or iPad for entertainment / education while traveling with you perhaps you might give thought to having a separate home page with just their games or icons/shortcuts on that page and then they can just use that page to gain access to their games or educational programs. Then way less chance of them moving your icons from your desired home page.... My wife and I on our iPhones or iPads did that for a couple of "grandkids" we baby sat full time until they reached school age. We first vetted those programs for appropriateness and safety for their ages... they then while we traveled or during play time could enjoy their programs that we and their parents approved of and we had no worries that they were venturing to sites that were not appropriate or that parents or we would not approve of..... When they got their own iPads for school or educational adventures we could delete those programs from our devices if space was needed.... I periodically look at their pages and games still on our devices and get a lot of laughs and wonderful memories of seeing the joy on their faces when they learned something new or accomplished a life learning moment without even knowing they were doing so..... Devices can be great learning tools in a fun environment for them and with the current "virtual school" on-line environment they had a great head start on todays necessary practices .....

Thanks for trying to help me. I still don't have the icon but will have to wait until someone a little more tech savvy than me to help. It might have more than the missing icon wrong with it!! I did not let this child play with my phone. She was just visiting with her parents and I didn't even know she had found my phone until I later saw what she had done. It was no one's fault but mine. I was just not child prepared with my phone by putting it away. Once again, thank you for your help.

Sorry didn't find the icon using above steps.... here's another easy way to locate the icon ..... On your home page open the blue A "App Store" . At the top right of the screen you should see a blue circle with the outline of an upper body in it (head and shoulders).... tap that icon which will open up information about your Apple account... you'll see your name and the email address you used to create your Apple account when you first fired up you brand new iPhone XS... the line under that should say "Purchased" and have a right facing arrow at the right end of the line.... tap that arrow to see all the free and pay apps you have ever gotten for your apple account.... tap on the box reading "Not on this iPhone" ... now you will see every app you have ever gotten and have previously removed (or grandchild removed) and you will see the down arrow from a cloud..... locate the You Tube app you are missing and redownload the program to get the app icon to again appear on one of your home pages.... if it is on the home page you want, all is OK.... if it is on a 2nd or 3rd or 4th Home Page then again tap on it and hold down until all your icons are wiggling... hold your finger tip on it and drag it to the left and onto the home page where you want it displayed......
Again, you don't have to again pay for the application/app as everything you have ever had is listed in your Apple account forever, so all you are doing with the download again is just getting the app shortcut icon to be on your home page......
Hope this method is easier and works for you.....

It is possible that your icon has not been deleted but is hidden. The easiest way to locate lost icons is to reset your home screen. After doing this your first screen will contain all the native preinstalled iphone apps and the rest will appear in alphabetical order on subsequent screens, making them easy to find. You can rearrange them again if you wish. To do this go into settings and select 'General'. Then click on 'Reset' and click 'Reset Home Screen Layout". If it does not reappear after doing this and swiped right through the screens then you will need to download the app as bigtoe has outlined above.
f you are up to date with iOS14 then there is a new feature called the App Library. Just keep swiping right until the very last screen and there will be all your apps sorted for you in named folders i.e. Travel, Education, Social, Utilities, Health etc. It's a great feature !

My grandson came to visit me and with just a few little clicks he had it fixed. I'm embarrassed. Once again, thanks to all of you for trying to help a not very tech person.

Nova, no need to feel embarrassed. Many of us have grandchildren who fix things for us ! I'm glad you got it sorted Agree with Everton 100%..... You ran into a problem and most importantly you asked for assistance.... that teaches others they aren't alone with a "difficulty" and can get assistance just by asking for it..... some solutions were offered, and perhaps those folks will be able to solve their problem with those solutions as they don't have the luxury of your grandson being available to them.... ....
And you had the joy of interacting with both of your grandchildren and that spells JOY and LOVE .... so everyone comes out a winner.... ... Absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about as that is how we all learn and get to have joy with our contraptions.....
Wishing everyone a wonderful and joyful HAPPY THANKSGIVING in these different times we all are experiencing to varying degrees in 2020....
