Hi, it's been a while since I visited this site. I've owned a Galaxy Note2 for 3 years. It has served me well. Still running on 4.4.2 OS and no real problems to speak of. A couple of days ago I attempted to send a text and discovered I wasn't getting mobile signal at all. I verified my SIM card was still in effect. They changed the SIM card. Still no mobile signal. I removed the battery and put it back in. Still no signal. My carrier said the problem exists within my smartphone. They said most likely it was a problem with my antenna, as the feature to search for networks is grayed out. Anyone have any suggestions on a fix? The carrier said it would be costly to fix. Thank you in advance.

Don't know that anyone here who services or works on cellphones. Though you've had it three years from my research it appears the Galaxy Note 2 was released 6 years ago so it is very old. Samsung is preparing to release the latest Galaxy Note phone next month and it will be Galaxy Note 9.
Since the antenna is definitely a required part for the phone and yours is so old it is very possible that there are no replacement parts even available, it sounds like it is time for you to get a new phone. Sorry.

Have you tried a place that fixes phones to see what they say? Most towns around here have several places that do such,

jholland1964 and Mr Bill, thank you for replying to my thread. You're right, my Note 2 is old (I'm still using it at home to surf the net and read off emails as the WiFi is not affected). I inquired at a few local places to see if a repair could be possible and was informed it would no doubt be costly, and then I still run the risk of something else not working--slow death if my Note 2 is failing. So I made the decision to purchase a new smartphone. I went with a Note 8; I use the note feature too much to not have it.
I would have liked to troubleshoot my Note 2 but the $200+ it would have taken to MAYBE find a fix, I thought it better to put that towards a new phone.
I quite like the Note 8. I've had it one week. So much more powerful than the Note 2. I have a lot to learn--technology is booming. Thank you both again for your assistance. So thankful for this forum as well. Pleasant day to you both!
Cheers, Byter

Thanks for coming back and giving us an update. It makes a big difference when people do that, especially for those who are either watching the thread or who are having the same problem.
