Hello everyone.
My name is Brian and I live in Glasgow, Scotland.
I was a long time member over at WorldStart and really enjoyed the experience.
I came over to this board almost immediately and I am sure it will be just as successful as WS.

Hi All,
I'm Judy from "The Middle", Indiana in other words. Like Brian I was a long time member at World Start which I thoroughly enjoyed and as soon as Crash opened the door here I came on over and joined.
I've owned a computer and been online since 1996 and have belonged to several forums over the years. I was a mod at a couple others concentrating on malware removal. Had a long time mentor at one of those forums who was a super teacher. I can thank him for what little I know today.
Hope you enjoy yourselves here and please feel free to participate fully and share your knowledge with others.

Hi Everyone, I am Paul from NY and I guess I am the one you can blame for the existence of this new site. I joined WorldStart on October of 2002 and will remain a member there until they turn the lights off. I was a moderator at WS for the past few years, and even though I was not on the boards often, I was still checking in and doing some of the back end work. With the announcement that WorldStart would be closing, and a suggestion by another longtime member FosterHackett, I decided to embark on this mission and bring NWT to life. I have been involved with computers since the early to mid 80's and in the computer field since the early 90's and have seen technology change dramatically in that time. I currently manage the on-site support for 2 NY state agencies with roughly 10,000 users each. If it involves a computer, I have more than likely seen it happen.
NWT, will be a place for everyone to contribute. Everyone has something to contribute and I encourage everyone to be active and post. I would ask that everyone exercise caution when responding to threads for assistance though. If you are unsure, say so and suggest that the member seeking help verify with someone more experienced before proceeding. This is especially true with hardware and malware related issues. You do not want to cause more damage...

I am Eve from New Zealand and also followed on over here from WorldStart pretty well as soon as the doors opened. Some of you may also remember me as a mod at MPC.
I have no doubt that with such a master at the helm NWT will be a success, and a place where we can all feel at home.

Joined yesterday and just finding my way around.
I am/was(?) a longish-standing "silent" but very appreciative member of WS, so it's reassuring to see some familiar names among the members that have already joined this forum.
I'm down south in Dorset in the UK, knocking on a bit now so my brain gets to start hurting more frequently than it used to, and it takes a bit longer for info to penetrate but I get there in the end.

I am a member at Geeks to Go, though haven't posted there in years. I stop in occasionally and have seen and read many threads where you have been the helper. We can definitely use more malware removal helpers here. I note from the threads there that you are very familiar with the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool. That had not been introduced when I got my training at M.R.U. HJT was the scanner tool of choice then and ComboFix was the tool of choice for infections that could not be removed by the usual removal tools and both of those were what I trained on, of course neither one is used at all anymore. HJT disappeared earlier and was replaced by DDS Scanner and I knew that well but that too is now gone. So I've only had very basic instruction with it. So it will be good to have somebody around really familiar with it and writing fix scripts for it too. Welcome! |

Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm so glad to see familiar faces and I'm so thankful Crash started this forum. BTW, Possum is still with me . . . putting his grubby paws all over the keyboard. He's been watching Judy going around and around and he's now dizzy, slobbering and doing his usual rascalian stuff! He says hello too!
