I have never had any problem transferring music from my pc to ipad or iphone via itunes until I tried to transfer music to a device (my husband's ipad)that is not associated with my apple account . The music I wanted to copy is not material purchased from itunes. I installed EaseUs MobiMover Free and the job was completed very quickly
Somewhat of a grey area regarding the legality of ripping cd's to a computer or a device for personal use.
The cd's I copied belong to my husband and I jointly and had been copied to our jointly owned pc. Perfectly legal as far as I am aware.
The iTunes app on the pc uses my account and is associated with my ipad and my iphone.
The itunes app on his ipad uses his Apple ID so the ripped cd's could not by synced.
Maybe there is a way to do it but it all became too complicated and this MobiMover is very simple to use. I shall be keeping it.

Yes, grey area at best but here is one of the best articles I have read on this in a very long time. It is very informative and does somewhat address the questions many people have, especially the paragraphs I have chosen to quote there. The entire article is well worth reading.

My understanding has always been that Fair Use meant for ones own use in this instance. It’s a good article thanks.
