Thanks guys. I hope you enjoyed these pictures, I took all of them during 'Open Doors Day' when buildings which are not normally free entry to the public are open to visitors.
I have mixed feelings about some of the buildings because a lot of them were built thanks to the slave trade and tobacco trades.
I have more pictures which I will post later.

Hey a lot of our most beautiful buildings were also built by the slaves. Not that I approve but that is the truth and one cannot change the truth.

Hi Judy, I didn't mean that slaves actually built the buildings in Glasgow. A lot of the buildings were originally mansions belonging to wealthy business men who made their money from the slave and tobacco trades. A lot of the most viscous and ruthless slave masters were Scotsmen, to our undying shame.

Well we actually have both...buildings built by slaves AND beautiful buildings built by slave owners and traders. Not the least being some of our "founding fathers", George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and others. What can we say, as I said, we cannot re-write history but at least today these things are acknowledged.

Although the Helen Denny is a lovely vessel I am glad the ship I came to New Zealand was much more comfortable ! It must have been a terrible voyage back in those days. The Helen Denny is now a hulk lying in Wellington harbour, the property of the Paparoa Coal Co. Sad ending. Here is a link about her
So Hillman Imps were made in Scotland ! Good cars,Hillmans. We had 2 Hillman Hunters.
Liverpool has a dark history in the slave trade also "Liverpool was responsible for 80% of all British voyages in the final decade of the slave trade before abolition in 1807, leading to a public apology from Liverpool City Council in 1999 for the port’s role in human trafficking. Today, Liverpool Slavery Museum serves as a permanent reminder of a shocking industry that saw millions of African people kidnapped from their homes and enslaved over four centuries."
