QUESTION ABOUT MALWAREBYTE
I went to the malwarebyte site to download the latest free Malwarbyet to download to my computers. Is there a problem with the site or the free program download? Clicked for the free down load and it says you have to take a 14 day trial of the paid program and then it would revert to the free program. I downloaded it to my flash drive and then proceeded to put it in my laptop. Then I clicked install. Said to skip the Malwarebytes Browser Guard. Continued pop up came up saying there was an error in download and to check my internet connection. I have done this download from the site 3 times in the last 2 days with the same results. Suggestions and help please Char

Suggestions and help please Char This has been the case for many years. Nothing wrong with the site. Download it directly to your computer. Install it. There may be an option to turn off that paid version but even if there is not the trial period only lasts two weeks and then it AUTOMATICALLY reverts to the free version. Malwarebytes Browser Guard is EXCELLENT and I highly recommend it. I have it installed on all of my browsers.

And when you finish downloading it, go right back and check for updates. There will be some.

I did download it first to my desk top, then by flash drive to my Lap top. I was concerned to add anything else they add on for fear of a problem. Glad to hear the Mal. Browser Guard is good, so tomorrow morning I will try again to download the program and will see if accepting the Guard it will install for me.
Both desk top and laptop seem to have some glitches so I'm starting on the laptop and keeping it off the internet. Downloading all security programs new and starting on your List to clean computer of infection and hoping you can help me as I get into this one step at a time as I have limited time on the internet. It has been a long time since I tackled something this big and I have forgotten so many things. Plus never did figure how to things when they changed me to Win. 10 Thanks for the help. Char

Part of your problem with Malwarebytes is trying to install it OFF the internet. It really needs to be online for a good install because it needs to launch and update automatically once it is installed. The Browser Guard also must be installed ONLINE because it is an add-on for your browser. What problems are you having that makes you think you need to do this all offline? None of the clean up instructions say to do it offline. Working online certainly is recommended unless a person has something like Ransomeware on their computer.
Tell me exactly what is happening and work now only with the laptop.

Are you sure you are off line? Laptops tend to automatically connect to the internet when turned on unless wifi has been turned off permanently.

I was finally able to get Malwarebytes installed.
The reason I need to do as much off line as I can is my online time is limited. I have 10 GB from 8am-2am and 50 GB from 2 am to 8am. per month. I try to get up early to do what I can, but it takes me time to figure how to do many things on the computer. (One thing I need to ask is how to schedule the updates to run between 2am-8am) Plus like Budgall mentioned I'm not sure when my computers may be on line when I am not aware. I try to limit my time when I go on Firefox. Have things listed I need to do, or notes written before hand ready to paste and get back off.
I don't use the laptop much on the internet more around the house because it is moveable and then transfer info to Desktop. Late Nov. I did clean up/ Windows Defender / Super Spyware / Malwarebytes /Spy Blaster / CClean BACKED UP after this even though the document showed they were there I could not open them. Don't remember what else I was concerned about on it. After this I was sick until late Jan. and didn't get back to my Laptop. Started 2/2/21 I went in and removed some programs which I don't use. I'm sure there are more, but if I don't know for sure what they are and do wouldn't touch. Removed Super spyware/ Malwarebytes /Spy Blaster/ CClean programs and short cuts. Reinstalled new Super spyware/ Spy Blaster/ CClean. Ran CClean twice but still said Things were there when I analyzed. Did Defender full scan 0 threats. Finally was able to download Malwarebytes today and scanned. I just check the laptop and can now bring up my documents, so something helped. Did a CCleaner showed Microsoft Edge Internet Cache 47 files (didn't even know I used edge) Internet Explorer Temp files 13 files Sys Temp Files 55 files Fire Fox Internet Cache 3487 files
Re-ran CC and said no files so this time everything cleaned out. To my knowledge I only go on the internet through Firefox.
Can you please tell me how to set my computer so windows update would download between 2 am & 6 am ? Will it tell me when updates are there so I would leave the computer on all night. Thanks for any help Char
