After installing Kaspersky Total Protection onto my desktop, Microsoft Word no longer works. Anyone else run into this problem and know of a fix?
Thanks, Craig

Sounds like a setting within Kaspersky. There is nothing in Word or Office for that matter that should be blocked or stopped by Kaspersky. Check your settings.
What OS are you using? If you are using Windows 10 then the recommended av really has been the built in Microsoft Defender for quite awhile It is excellent, two way. You might give it a thought and of course it is Free. Quite a few people here are using it with their Windows 10 computers.

I'm running Windows 10 Processional 64 bit. I have been having some problems with the computer which I thought were caused by a software problem and in a fit of desperation I installed Kaspersky. Most likely a mistake to get Kaspersky but at least it came with a 30 money back guarantee. Don't see any settings that could be change to stop this problem but will look again. Also have the same question sent in to Kaspersky to see if they have a answer and will update if they send an answer that works. My desktop is new, well sort of, for Christmas my son and wife gave me a new mother board, CPU, SSD "C" drive and graphic card. Thought that would solve all my problems, yeah right.

Disable Kaspersky and see if that fixes it.

Trying to disable it but there is no way to do so or it hidden all to well. That to me is very questionable. If I were you I would totally uninstall it. When you have problems like you described, which you felt were software problems the very last thing you would want to do is install something like Kaspersky because Kaspersky certainly would not fix a software problem that is not what it is designed to do.
Uninstall it and see if Word is usable again. Get your money back from Kaskpersky. Microsoft Defender is what you need to use.

Abby Fine Reader 12 Sprint works perfectly fine on my computer with Word and Microsoft Defender. I would uninstall and return Kaspersky while you can still bet your money back.

Found the problem to Word not working, it was something call Abby Fine Reader (think that the name), so I uninstalled that program and hey Word now works. Computers are so much fun. Thanks All, Craig Can I ask how you found that Abby Fine Reader was the problem? It is a well known program that that lets you convert your scanned documents and image files into Word, PDF, or other formats. You must have installed it because it doesn't just appear on a computer. I say again as Budgall said, the problem is very likely Kaspersky. You said there is no way to temporarily disable it so that tells me there is a major problem with the program because there are may times that an antivirus program must be disabled temporarily, this is a very common requirement for many things including occasionally the installation of important updates to Windows or other programs. If the anti-virus cannot be disabled then the computer would be at risk.
Uninstall Kaspersky and then give us exactly what problems you were having with other software prior to the installation of Kaspersky and we can try to give you some help on this.
