I think I agree with their rankings.

I would make one change, I'd flip #1 and #2. Windows 2000 was the only version of Windows that I never had a problem or failure with.

Interesting - I guess this is the opinion of the author of the story - I can't see any other reference as to popularity. Because I only used 98SE, XP, 8 and 10 for personal use I can't agree or disagree. I did have 7 on my laptop (Never liked it, I know I'm weird) I believe maybe 7 and 2000 were better suited business use or more serious home users. The only version I had any problems with was 98SE, but inexperience was a factor plus there was something not right with my machine (which was eventually replaced by the business I purchased it from) I loved XP but 10 is far better. I have no complaints about it. One thing that puzzles me - I see a reference to advertising on the 10 start menu. I have read similar before. I have never seen any advertising on mine and unlike many I like the tiled start (with the tiles at the smallest size). Can anyone explain the advertising thing ? I log in with a MS account on my PC and Local on my Laptop - neither have any ads.

As I said I pretty much agree with the writer but should have said for the os's I used. I can't give an opinion on something I never used. I owned and used 95, 98SE, XP, 7 and 10. There honestly wasn't any of those that I didn't like.
Like Everton I never have ever seen any advertising on 10. Had to do some research on that and here is what I found; Ads may be found on the Lock Screen, IF you use specific settings, I don't use those specified so I have never seen any ads.
Here is how to turn them off, which will then tell you how a person might see them:
