I bought a new Laptop and Desktop (see below for details of both). I am able to have Firefox Browser on my Laptop but for some unknown reason yesterday I lost Firefox Browser on the new Desktop. It will only let me use Microsoft Edge as my default which I really don't like. I prefer Firefox. Is there anyone out there that can help me. I am 85 years old so please be kind with your instructions. I been trying to get Firefox on my new Desktop all morning. Thank you for any input.

Go to Start>Settings>Apps>Default Apps and scroll down until you see Web Browser. Click on the browser shown, which likely will be EDGE and a list will open, Choose Firefox

Hi jHolland1964,
I did actually what you mentioned about five times with no luck earlier prior to posting here. I did have Firefox Browser on my new Desktop but for some reason I think Firefox crashed yesterday on my Desktop. I am unable to obtained it as a Browser. I had Dell Support (Richard) try and help me but to no prevail. So I had him put Google Chrome on my new Desktop.
Now I have Google Chrome on my Desktop and I have Firefox on my laptop. It has been very frustrating for me. I lost my beloved husband Billy of 64 years of marriage to the Convid19 virus on January 06, 2021 and my wonderful children bought me a new Desktop and Laptop....Thank you so very much. One day at a time......

Oh Marie, I cannot tell you how very sorry I am to learn of your loss of your husband. As you say, One day at a time. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
You have wonderful children to provide the new computers.
The problem you are having with Firefox may not have been Firefox at all to begin with, I had an update of Edge yesterday and of course it wanted to be my default browser, I said no.
Now try this with Firefox, a TOTAL removal using instructions found on this link:
In the Start menu, select Settings. In Settings, select System and then Apps & features From the list of currently installed programs, select Mozilla Firefox. To begin the uninstall, click Uninstall. The Mozilla Firefox Uninstall window will open. To continue uninstalling Firefox, follow these steps:
Click Next in the Mozilla Firefox Uninstall window. The next window that opens will show the location of the Firefox program that will be uninstalled. Click Uninstall. Click Finish to complete the uninstall. To remove other files and folders that may not be removed by the uninstall, you must manually delete the Firefox program folder from the location shown in the Uninstall Mozilla Firefox window (normally by default, C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox or C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox).
Once Firefox is uninstalled, REBOOT the computer.
Then go to this link to download a brand new copy of Firefox, a new version, 88.0, was released today by the way:

My Dear Judy,
I finally worked on my new beautiful Dell Desktop today, January 22, 2022 and thanks to you I have installed Firefox on my the Desktop. I now have Firefox, Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. I never use Microsoft Edge...Could I remove it? or....should I keep all three. I need your valuable advice.
I have been working on my laptop these past year and love it and love Firefox. I finally went tackled my new Desktop!
It was a year since I lost my beloved husband Billy....January 6, 2021 and I am still missing him so very much. We did everything together, tennis, golf, gardening, cooking etc. I keep myself busy and have the support of my family, colleagues and neighbors. Thank you Judy so very much.
Fondly, Marie

You should keep all three browsers Marie, even if you only use one. The other two can be used as backups if needed. I don't use or have Chrome but I do have and use often EDGE. I rather like it. Firefox is still my browser of choice and my default browser.
Play around with EDGE when you can, you won't like it or get used to it unless you use it.
I understand how difficult it is losing your husband. My sister lost her husband two years ago come this Valentine's day. She said she never stops missing him but each day gets easier and like you she has lots of support from friends and family. She has thrown herself into lots of things she loves, quilting, reading, substitute teaching and each day is easier and less lonely. She is doing well as it sounds like you are doing too.
