I am putting together a desktop from some spare parts for a friend of mine. I had the case, motherboard, cpu memory, and optical drive. I purchased a new power supply, ssd and graphics card. After putting it together and loading the OS, it boots just fine but then I get a no dvi signal message and the screen goes black. The card has VGA, DVI and HDMI outputs which I also tried with the same results. Sometimes I am able to get all the way in before it happens and other times it happens before I can even finish putting the password to get to the desktop. I have tried 2 different graphic cards and get the same results.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated as always.

What motherboard and graphics card are you using? Are they compatible? Sounds like a mix of old and new hardware which may be the problem. What OS?

Hello budgall and thank you for replying. After horsing around with it some more, I broke out another used but much nicer motherboard and made the swap. All works fine now with windows 10. Never had that happen before and had me going nuts for a while. Apparently it must have been something with the first motherboard.
Thanks again!
