What causes a flickering monitor screen, and how can it be fixed, aside from getting a new monitor?

A LOT more information is needed here. How long has this been happening? Is this monitor connected to a desktop or a laptop? How OLD is the monitor? Is it still under warranty? What is the brand of monitor? What is the operating system? Does it flicker all the time or just occasionally or on specific pages. Do you leave it turned on all the time? If so, have you tried turning it off and "letting it rest" awhile?

Windows 10,flickers all time, turned off at night.

I repeat the same thing I said 3 days ago.... Be sure to let us know what happens. I know the original poster has been back here numerous times since I posted the link and request above but all we've heard is "crickets". Come on nightowl...did you try anything suggested in the link and if so did anything work? We can't offer help if we don't know what is going on. If nothing else it is just polite to let people know and then if other things are needed they can be suggested but now... ??

I apologize for not coming back until now, but I had personal reasons for being away. Yes I did use the link you provided, and got to 4th part of instructions where it said to roll back driver, but that box was grayed out, could not go any farther. When I got back on computer, I could just barely tell there was a flicker on the screen and don't pay it any attention any more.

Yes I did use the link you provided, and got to 4th part of instructions where it said to roll back driver, but that box was grayed out, could not go any farther. That's ok, glad you could come back now. The reason the box was grey is there was no other driver to roll back to and in that case there IS another step listed, which is Update the Driver. You may need to contact your PC or display adapter manufacturer to download the most recent driver for your system. OR there is another step listed which often times fixes a corrupt driver and that is reinstall the same one which is easy to do. Those instructions are also on that same page. Go again to Device Manager and again open up that Display Adapter. Under Display adapters, right-click the adapter, then select Properties. Select the Driver tab, and then select Uninstall Device. Select the Delete the driver software for this device check box, and then select OK. Restart your device and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver. This might fix everything. If not and the screen still flickers then chances are you will soon need a new monitor.

Apparently the uninstall trick worked,I see no flickering. Wonderful!. Your display driver was corrupt and by uninstalling it and rebooting a clean copy was automatically installed. This is often all that is needed with various problems. I had a problem with my audio for several weeks, sometimes what I wanted to hear would play and other times it would not so first I checked for a new driver and when another was not available I did as you just did, uninstalled the driver, rebooted and the system installed a new copy with the reboot and now all is well. Thanks so much for coming back and letting all know what worked for you. This will help many others for sure!
