When I want to view my mail I go to the yahoo site and I recently changed my password to keep my mail private. That way I can log out each time to keep things secure. However, I noticed if I go to "start" and then scroll down I have a choice to click on "mail" and it brings up my email. Is there any way to get rid of that? I would like to feel that my email is secure without it being displayed through the "start" menu. TIA!

Why would the other password not be private? I don't understand that at all. You had to have personally chosen to add that yahoo account to Windows 10 mail so that is why the yahoo account is there. There is no reason whatsoever you have to use that Windows 10 Mail app. I don't at all, never have. Just go into the Windows 10 mail and delete the yahoo account from there and stop using Windows 10 mail.

Others that might be on this computer can easily click on "mail" in the start menu and view my email. I changed the password from the Yahoo page to keep it private thinking that it would not show as it does now - but, it still could be viewed in the same manner. I had started to delete the account as you suggested, but when it said that it would delete my email account from this machine . . . I was afraid that I wouldn't even be able to sign in anymore to view my email.

Linda, when you access your mail do you go to Yahoo.com and login with your password there? If so you are viewing your yahoo mail on the yahoo site in a browser. The 'Mail" app at some stage must have had that account added as Judy said, and then the messages are downloaded to the Mail App on your computer. . Deleting the account from the Mail app will not delete your Yahoo account at yahoo.com. It can be accessed from anywhere, on any machine. The messages you are currently seeing in Mail must be from before you changed your password on the Yahoo site because you would need to change the settings for that account on Mail to continue to download them. The attachment is the NZ Yahoo login page but yours should be similar. If this is how you are accessing your mail then you are quite safe and can delete the account from Mail. You can not delete the Mail app as it is part of Windows 10. Just ignore it.

Linda, follow Everton's recommendations. There is no other answer. She is 100% correct. If other people who use your computer are reading your private email then you should not be allowing them to use the computer. I sure wouldn't. If this is not possible for you to do then you will have to actually inconvenience yourself by not allowing browsers to remember user names and passwords and by signing out of every web site that you visit, including your yahoo mail. To be honest, if you are having this type of problem then, since Windows 10 is a multi-user operating system and you can very easily set up what other users on the machine can see and do on YOUR computer. You can even control what web sites they can visit and what programs they can use on YOUR computer. Easy to read and understand instructions are found here and I strongly recommend that you consider them; www.ilovefreesoftware.com/07/windows-10/windows-10-parental-controls-using-family-safety-feature.html

Everton, thank you so much! It seems indeed that no new mail has become visible through that since I changed my password - what appears is old email. I think I'll leave all alone for now.
