just out of curiosity..... why do some wireless cards have one wire going to a connector when they have 2 connectors? and some has 2 wires one going to each connector...also, i got a laptop awhile back that had a wireless card with one of these one wire connectors. it would sometimes connect to wireless, and would sometimes not connect. upon inspection, one of the connectors said main, and the other one said AUX..... the wire was on the AUX... so i changed it to the main, now it works fine. no problems. and since it looked untouched as in noone had had the bottom off that exposes the card, why would it be on the wrong connector? an assembly line mishap? thats all i can figure.

It is very doubtful that the computer you speak of had never been touched or opened. Some older laptops only have one antenna cable so you need a card with one antenna cable connector. Most internal cards have two small connectors for wireless antenna cables and most laptops have two antenna cables, white and black. One cable goes to the main connector on the wireless card, another cable goes to the auxiliary connector and now some newer Mini PCI-E cards have three connectors and require three antenna cables. Since the computer you speak of has a two antenna wires but a card with one slot then it is very doubtful that the wrong card was installed at the factory, the factory would have installed a two antenna card. Sounds like somebody else replaced the wi-fi card that was a two antenna card with an older one antenna card.

The main is where it should be. The Aux one is where you could run a cable from it to another device and that device should be on Main if there is a choice. I have a Micro Cell for my cell phone and it has the same to ports. It helps/keeps you from loosing a port.

thats not wxactly what i was meaning that they installed the wrong card at the factory.... what i was meaning was that someone at the factory may have accidently put the wire on the wrong connector since it has 2. i switched it and it worked perfect. either that, or someone had the cover off fooling with it, but it didnt appear to be fooled with. the wire had plenty of slack to reach that other connector, however, that other connector wasnt the one it should be connected to. on the other hand, you cant always tell if they have or havent been fooled with.

Did they come to your house and do this?
