Using Macrium Reflect, for example, can I restore an image of another hard drive to a new one that has never had an operating system on it? I know that I can restore a previous image to my hard drive because i have done it in the past.

You can try but the fact that the image you have is for different hardware than the new hard drive may create a problem. Even if you are successful, you may run into a situation regarding Windows activation. Let us know the results if you do decide to try it.

If the new hard drive is replacing the imaged hard drive you should not have a problem. If the new blank hard drive is a different computer then as Phil said you may have issues.

I've been told by Carbonite that the mirror image their application/program creates for you can only be restored to the same computer it was made from. I'm not sure that could include a different but nearly duplicate set up, but according to them it won't work on a variation or different drive. F/w/i/w. J
