When I log into some websites (like Wal-Mart shopping) it always comes up with a town at least 70 miles from here. Has anyone had luck correcting this ? Anything I've searched hasn't helped.

Places like Wal-Mart usually has the option to choose the location of the nearest store it is not chosen automatically. See attached. When you click on that then there should be a list of choices that go across the top and you choose the store you want to use. I have checked JCPenney store, Lowes, Home Depot, Walgreens, all have the option to choose the closest store. None of them showed that automatically to me, I had to choose. Some of them showed you locations, others gave a pop-up box where you enter your town and zip code. I believe this is pretty much standard. The place on the web site home page to choose location may not be the same but it is there on virtually all of them. Attachments:

I know that, but all these sites are picking up in a location 70 miles away. Some where there is "GPS" within windows 10 that starts the search for the location. That's the best I can describe it. This started in April when I got this new computer with Windows 10. The old computer was an old version of Windows the got updated and this feature worked fine.

In Windows 10 settings, go to location and change the default location settings to what you want the default to be. No guarantees this will work for everything as there are multiple places where a preferred location can be set in different windows apps.

You have given the reason for this yourself, this is a new computer, it is not going to pick up settings from an old computer which didn't pick location without your input, you have just forgotten that you had to do that. budgall is correct with what he says below. In Windows 10 settings, go to location and change the default location settings to what you want the default to be. No guarantees this will work for everything as there are multiple places where a preferred location can be set in different windows apps. To follow his instructions go to PC Settings, Privacy, Location. There you need to be sure that Location is turned ON and that you personally set your Default Location. Just also remember, though this usually will choose the correct or the closest location depending on the web site the correct or closest location may not be correct.

budgall his fix doesn't work---many people have tried it. Even Microsoft has offered that fix.--I never expected for the new computer to pickup the settings from the old computer--that's ridiculous. My cancer has been kicking the crap out of me these days so I haven't had the energy to pursue this lately.

My cancer has been kicking the crap out of me these days so I haven't had the energy to pursue this lately. I am very sorry the fix didn't work for you. It usually works. Be sure you are saving your settings. But if you never get that to work why not just use the option on most of the web sites to choose a location for a store using your zip code. They all look a bit different but essentially work the same. Walmart web site has this option: Hit Store and you'll get a box to type in your zip code. The stores near the code you type in will be shown in a box, pick one and then you can designate it as your store. See attached Attachments:
