Since the updates getting finally caught up I have been getting a blue screen frequently. First attachment is the full screen (taken with a camera), second is a blowup of the bottom half of the first attachment. I've seen 2 different 'stop codes' since I started checking them out. I'm going to post this before blue screen pops up again. Thanks DICK Attachments:

Dick, since you updated from 1511 to 1703 there is a very good chance that you need a bunch of driver updates. You need to go to the HP web site and check for new drivers for the hardware on your computer. The need for new drivers are often the cause of problems after the upgrade to new versions support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/

As suggested in the BSOD, I went to www.windows.com/stopcode. The link below from that page gave the following link support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/14238/windows-10-troubleshoot-blue-screen-errorsI also googled : "stop code: attempted switch from DPC" and received lots of comments, suggestion and solutions. The problem is there are multiple problems that can cause this error message. One of which ie: updated drivers was mentioned by Judy. I would suggest you start with the link Judy gave you and update any outdated drivers.

There was 1 new driver available and it is now downloaded.
It hasn't happened since I first posted BUT did about 6 times before I posted.
I guess we will wait and see.
Many thanks Judy, DICK
budgall--You posted while I was answering Judy. Thank you also.

What was the driver update you installed? Just for information especially for others who may experience the same problem.

Doesn't tell us what the driverS were for, as you see, there were TWO drivers not just one.

It just did it again!! I didn't catch it in time to take another pic. All I was doing was an RV forum.
I don't know what the drivers were for--I downloaded them from the laptop section (not for the printer)

Is this blue screen stopping you from booting the computer? The way you describe it sounds like it pops up for a minute and then closes and you can go about your business, is this correct? Or does the computer reboot?

This error shown on your original printscreens, ATTEMPTED_SWITCH_FROM_DPC, is caused by a “delayed procedure call” or DPC. DPC allows high-priority tasks to load before lower priority tasks on Windows. The error is usually caused by a faulty device driver, faulty hardware, or problems in some other software. You DO need to check ALL of your hardware drivers and be sure they are all up to date with this new Windows 10 version that you have.
You should go through your device manager and look to see the manufacturer of the hardware on your system, especially the Display Adapter and the Audio adapter, these are very often 3rd party mfgrs. and check the manufacturers web sites of those particular items for new drivers for them. Graphics cards especially can cause these types of errors, especially when new operating system versions have been installed.

Yep, the blue screen stops me from doing anything and then the puter reboots by itself.
I'll check the device manager this evening. Have to go do family things with people coming in for the wedding (my niece). Rather be here in motorhome working on this problem!!

DICK When you check the Device Manager what you need to look at is the manufacturer of the device and the driver versison installed. THEN go to the manufacturers site and see if there is an update for that driver for Windows 10 that is newer than the one you have, if there is then install it. Do that will all 3rd party device listings. Some drivers do come from Microsoft so be sure to check to see if there are updated drivers available by using that Device Manager Driver properties for each Microsoft provided driver. As I said, 3rd party drivers MUST come from those particular manufacturers so don't use that Properties search for those, go to the MFGR web site.

aker1, While you are going about checking and updating the drivers you may try going into your Power options and if you are on the "Balanced" (which is recommended) plan try changing to "High Performance" - it could help.
To get to Power Options go to Control Panel (type it in search) then select Hardware & Sound/Power Options. Since my Upgrade there is a section just named 'Power Options' I can nor remember exactly where Power Options is on earlier versions but you will find in in the Control Panel.

Because I could not get to this site due to the blue screen, I called my PC guy. It seems I was using Panda as an anti-virus which caused this, so I uninstalled Panda and installed Avira. This solved the problem this time and I did not know to do anything with 'drivers'. I will keep this post so I know what to do if this happens again.

WOW!!! Puter is really messed up now! Yesterday I was going to do the updates mentioned above. Puter started doing the blue screen again frequently. It was good the day before. Only thing I did different than normal is I switched to the campground Wi-Fi to do the downloads and I downloaded Free Cell from the link that Phil gave.
The last time of the blue screen, when I restarted and tried to open FF I got the following message:
Your computer needs to be restarted Profile Missing Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible.
I tried to come here with IE and got this message:
No forwarding set for Newworldtech.com.
Tried again on MS Edge and got the same message. Today it did it twice and I finally connected using Edge.
Also when puter started I got a notification in the message window on bottom right of screen:
I needed to restart puter in order to finish: HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor I did that and that message is now gone.
Should I delete FF and reload? If so, can I find my profile somewhere?
I hope I can get back here to followup.
Thanks DICK

What were you doing at the time? Those would not pop up randomly, those security checks usually come from a particular web site in order to proceed doing something like uploading photos, music, logging in, any number of reasons but it would not just happen for no reason or just generally through the computer that is just sitting there doing nothing. It is not a mechanical problem, it is definitely triggered by a web site that requires specific security.
Dick, you posted 5 days ago saying that your Firefox profile was missing and you were having problems with other browsers but you never came back. We have a lot of trouble helping you because you post various problems but then don't return to let anyone know what is going on. Before your last post here on October 25 three of us gave you suggestions to try so that the blue screens would stop, all of which indicated out of date drivers and since you never came back I have to presume that you also never went through the Device Manager to see which of the 3rd party drivers possibly would need updating. I also have to presume that you never bothered to check Power options as suggested by Everton

"Do that with all 3rd party device listings." Not sure what that means.
"What were you doing at the time?" Don't remember.
What about FF? Reinstall?
Thanks DICK

"Do that with all 3rd party device listings." Not sure what that means. "What were you doing at the time?" Don't remember. What about FF? Reinstall? Thanks DICK One of the most common causes of the Blue Screens you are receiving is caused by out of date Graphic Drivers. Go to Device Manager. Click on Display Adapter to see who the manufacturer of that item happens to be. When you see who the manufacturer is then go to their web site and check for drivers. As an example, my Graphics card is an Intel HD Graphics 520. So I would go to their web site to search for a new driver. If there is one then I would download and install it. There are any number of Graphic card mfgrs so you have to get the one for Your computer. To correct the Firefox problem do the following: Close Firefox and ALL other browsers. Go to Start, Search and type in the following: firefox.exe -P
The Firefox Profile Manager should open. It looks like my attachment: In the Profile Manager, click Create Profile... to start the Create Profile Wizard. Click Next and enter the name of the profile. Use a profile name that is descriptive, such as your personal name. This name is not exposed on the Internet. Use Default Folder to store new profile. Then click Finish. IF this works please let me know ASAP. You will then have to set Firefox up as you like it again. I will explain that if this process here works. Attachments:

The process for FF worked. Now for the next step!
The updates will have to wait a couple of days. Running out of bandwidth and one of them is a large download.

Glad the Firefox process worked. Now, what updates are you talking about? You said in the very first post here that all the Windows Updates were caught up.

DICKI am surprised the driver updates needed are so large, that is really unusual. Which one is large and how large is it? How many new drivers are required? Updating the drivers are the next steps you need to do, not setting up Firefox. Drivers make the computer run correctly and if those are out of date then things either won't run right or sound right or look right. It is out of date drivers causing your blue screens. Firefox is secondary for sure and it might not work right without updated drivers.

Intel(R) HD graphics 520. It is not unusually large but with my bandwidth cut back the download is crawling.
We are in S. Ga. now and can use my nephews provider. Probably be thur. I'll keep you updated.
Thanks DICK

I've got his password and am heading to house house tomorrow (thur). Dick, I have no idea what you are talking about. I thought this thread was about your computer that hadn't been updated in ages but finally were able to get them. After that you started getting blue screens and an error code which points to out of date drivers. I am totally lost here, why do you need somebody else's password in order to work on your own computer?
