From Krebs on Security Three of the 54 critical fixes included are for Edge and IE browsers to fix weaknesses that hackers can easily exploit. Adobe of course has an update for it's Flash Player

The Windows updates needed me to restart, thus I lost my previous sign in.

Both my. Machines are now updated. I have to say the compulsory updates that Windows 10 required was the one thing I was not happy about. Maybe I just thought I wanted to be in control ! My machine, so should be my decision when and what I update.
However, I NOW have to say I am all in favour .. I have had no problems since day one with updates and all has gone smoothly. That no way ensures there could not be problems in the future but I, and I think most people would agree, believe that I know a whole lot less than MS does so am now Quite Happy with auto updates.
Obviously opinions on auto updates are determined by the experiences of the individual.

That no way ensures there could not be problems in the future but I, and I think most people would agree, believe that I know a whole lot less than MS does so am now Quite Happy with auto updates. Obviously opinions on auto updates are determined by the experiences of the individual. I must say, I had the same feelings in the beginning but now I also am totally in favor of these compulsory updates too. I HAVE had a few "failed to install" messages over the last few months but knowing my machine was fully up to date at the time of update attempt I didn't panic. I waited. Each day the updates were automatically tried again without my interaction. Most times the next try was successful, a couple times it took several days but in the end all have finally updated. Why the failures? I have no idea but because of the compulsory updates I know the problem does not lie with something being outdated. I figure maybe my internet speed was not what it should be at the time of the attempt or maybe I was doing too much in the background, who knows but without my worrying about it they ALL have completed eventually. I even had two with the notations that a specific file, giving the KB number, was found not to be necessary on my machine and therefore not installed. I am very pleased now with this set up and I have the comfort of knowing that my machine IS fully up to date.
