is there a wy to restart firefox without losing tabs etc as in the past thanks To do this you use exactly the same setting as you did on previous versions of Firefox; Tools, Options, General, When Firefox Starts, Show Windows and Tabs from last time.

It had not been updated by the developer in 7 years so it is doubtful that it will be or replaced. Just be sure that your Options, General section looks like the attached. A DOT in "Show Windows and Tabs from last time" What other addons do you have? One of them may be interfering with the change of options. Attachments:

shut down all addons but still not working Then I would suggest a Refresh of FIrefox. This usually fixes most problems. support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settingsDoing this will reset Firefox to Brand New and therefore correct many irritants you may experience with the new version. It DOES keep the following; Bookmarks Browsing and download history Passwords Open windows and tabs Cookies Web form auto-fill information Personal dictionary It REMOVES Extensions and themes, website permissions, modified preferences, added search engines, DOM storage, security certificate and device settings, download actions, plugin settings, toolbar customizations, user styles and social features will be removed. Very easy then to set up the browser exactly as you would like it to be.

When you did the refresh did it make the folder of the Old Firefox Data on your desktop? What extensions do you have? What antivirus program are you using? What other security programs are you using?

uBlock is known to possibly cause problems. Might be the reason for your problem. Try removing that and see if that fixes things.
You must have other addons, those are only extensions, plugins and themes are also addons

I use default theme and shockwave is on ask Ok. don't know really what else to suggest. Honestly not sure why you used that Restart Button for Firefox because the ability to just set it to always restart with windows and tabs from last time has always been available directly in the program going almost back at least 7+ years so that addon wouldn't be needed. Probably why the developer stopped updating it 7 years ago. Sorry.

yes it was an add-on must have used for 7yrs never had an update as far as I know as I had automatic updates checked I miss that button as I used fewer clicks Ironically it is too bad that you used that add-on at all because if you had just very simply used the setting I gave you from the start you would have had NO clicks at all. Just close the browser and the next time you used it then it would have opened with all your last windows and tabs in place. Using this button likely changed the ability you had to se default settings so you couldn't use that built in option to choose and now that this 7 year old button is no longer compatible your browser settings cannot be changed. Only things I can suggest are what I gave in another thread; Follow the information given on a link Everton gave in another thread and that is to revert back to 52.5.0 to continue to receive security updates. You won’t get these in 56. This will only last for 18 weeks. Even though you've refreshed FF and thereby removing all extensions it is possible the browser was changed by that very old extension so even the removal made no difference. www.thurrott.com/cloud/143917/firefox-57-come-speed-stay-text-renderingEither that or totally Uninstall Firefox and all files connected with it and download and install a brand new copy. If that doesn't work then the problem lies with your computer not with Firefox
