I've tried this according to the way it says do it....disk cleanup....search for previous installations......that option is not there.....why? Ivy had this laptop longer than a month also.....it said it would automatically delete after a month. Any suggestions? I'd like to claim that space if possible.

Just delete it. I have done it many times without issues.

....disk cleanup....search for previous installations......that option is not there.....why? There is NO option to search for anything. You have to hit the Clean up System Files button. This should then give you additional options including Previous Windows Installations Attachments:

Based on the fact that there are two different problems, this one and the HDMI problem, thus far sounds like there very well could be a problem with the upgrade.

The one I bought it from on craigslist. Other than those two things it works perfect.

For your sake I hope not but don't be surprised.

For your sake I hope not but don't be surprised. Just because I can't delete a folder has nothing to do with the way it works. HDMI is not something I can't live without. Everything works perfect on it. I finally got used to Windows 10 and love it. I highly doubt anything goes wrong with it....but just in case I made 2 clone drives.

I was trying to delete it the other day to no avail....in the process I had renamed the windows.old folder to Windiws old...i noticed it just a few minutes ago....id forgotten I did that.... so I renamed the folder back to windows.old and ran disk cleanup again.this time it recognized the previous version and now there is no more windows.old folder. Thanks Judy and budgal.

Like I used to tell my clients with a smile on my face, the problem was another case of "Operator Error" <G>
