Not great news but it's out of our hands and hope their updates will arrive without much delay and then much slow down.

I have never owned a computer with an Intel processor, I have always been an AMD fan. It will be interesting to see how Intel resolves the problem.

The general advice seems to be to make sure that KB4056892 issued on 04/01/18 is installed as soon as possible. I have checked for updates on both my machines and am advised they are up to date. I am considering downloading it from MS Update Catalogue and installing it manually. Does anyone have any thoughts on this please

I am considering downloading it from MS Update Catalogue and installing it manually. Does anyone have any thoughts on this please I personally will wait for the automatic install. For one thing it requires Windows 10 version 1709 ( OS Build 16299.192) and mine is OS Build 16299.125 so I have to get that newer os build first. Here is all the info needed about this KB, please note there are several issues known including one concerning some Antivirus programs: support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4056892/windows-10-update-kb4056892

My understanding was different Judy. I have since successfully installed KB4056892 on my laptop which was OS Build 16299.125 and it was updated to 16299.192 with the install.. There appears to be no problems with it, and I have not noticed any slow down as yet. My AV is Avast and I did not disable it during the install.
I have not updated my pc yet.
My PC is also Build 16299.125 since the Cumulative Update KB 4054517 in December. There was another security update shortly after that (KB4058043)which addressed Windows Store issues and did not change the build. I assumed both machines were up to date.

What a relief. LOL! I posted too soon. The very second I hit Create Post on my reply above I received notification that a Windows Update had downloaded and was ready to install. So of course I let it install. It failed, I have no idea why but it did. So I tried again. The second time it was successful. As far as slowing down the computer, from what I have read this possibility has been overblown. According to Krebs On Security

Hallo, Would the Microsoft Security TechCenter/Security Update Guide prove useful in any of this? portal.msrc.microsoft.com/en-us/If you want it take it. It is just a guide or list of security updates really. If you have your computer set as it should be set, to update automatically then you will receive the updates.

Got it! Great to see New World Tech is on top of this situation with Intel and AMD, etc. Thank you...
