I will not be surprised if the ability to update to Windows 10 via the assistive technologies method continues after the proposed January 16, 2018 cutoff date. It is to Microsoft's advantage to have people convert to Windows 10. Microsoft would love to see all old versions of Windows be replaced with Windows 10. With that in mind, you should also be able to update using a valid Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 license which was supposed to expire over a year ago and still worked last weekend when I updated a friends computer to Windows 10 from Windows 7. Time will tell.
