I thought I have done this before...but maybe not...as I can't find out how to get rid of that circle above my user name. I want to have a wallpaper image that covers the entire screen with no circle....is that possible? I've done searches and browsed through user accounts and personalize and nothing seems to get rid of it...maybe a registry edit even. Thanks in advance.

I do not think that changing the background via Personalisation as Barney suggests will also remove the photo circle. You have posed this question before here newworldtech.freeforums.net/thread/321/getThe solution is given in post #10 by jholland1964 but you said it did not work for you. I am not sure why you needed to download TakeOwnershipPro because there is no need to delete the folder, you can just rename it. Maybe you could try doing it again. I have searched also and that is the only solution I can find to remove the circle. You can HIDE the circle by setting the background to a solid colour and making your user picture just a blob of the exact same colour, then it will not be seen. If you don't mind not having a picture then that would be the easiest option

I don't mind having a solid color as my background.. as I've tried that too....what happens as when it teaches that point in the boot up process the color is faded....which leaves the circle with a brighter color..therefore not matching... although I browsed to the same color.

I am curious, why is this necessary or so important that you've posted twice about it? That's fine to do that if you want but I just am curious. I just timed my personal avatar when the computer boots and it is displayed for 4 seconds and then never seen again until the next time I boot the computer. If you do want to do this then the instruction given by Everton is truly the only way to do it: The instructions given on this link and in Edwin's post #4 tells you exactly what you need to do. Follow it to the letter. Remove user account pic at login screen

I've said why....because although you choose the same color...it doesn't appear as the same color. The main color on the background is faded and the circle has the original color....I'll check that link and post back later on....again. it's not important.....so if the link doesn't show how I'll just let it go....not a big thing.

Why don't you set the power settings so that when you press the on/off button the computer "Hibernates" (or hit the start/power/hibernate).
This way you bypass the start/photo/password screen on start up, and takes you back to where you shut down the computer by pressing the on/off button, and hibernating.
If you were at this site and pressed the on/off button, the computer "Hibernates", and the next time you turn on the computer you would return to this site. If you were at you desk top when you shut down you would return to your desk top.
I have shut down my computer/s this way for 10 or more years, the only way you get the start/picture/password page is if you hit start/power/shut sown, then it would start as normal (which I do at least once a week, it clears any abnormalities, usually on Sunday morning, along with a defrag).

Man....I never thought of that... that would do it. Thank you.

How are you choosing the colour? You need to use the snipping tool to grab a portion of your background colour then use Paint or another editor to upen your sample by pasting it onto a canvas. Then you can use the eye dropper tool to exactly match the colour values. Or you can just save it as an image to use as your user picture icon. I have tried doing this and it works. .

This whole thread really puzzles me. I have never seen this circle. We have 3 PCs. My desktop - non-Microsoft login (but it still goes through the preliminary screen which apparently generates the circle). Windows slideshow wallpaper, changing hourly (dual screens, so different wallpaper on each screen). My laptop - non-Microsoft login. Windows slideshow wallpaper. Gail's laptop - Microsoft login. Static wallpaper. Never seen this circle on any of them.

If you do not do this then you will see this default gray circle with a "person" in it. I have removed mine and have my own personal Icon so I had to get one from the internet to show you what is being talked about here. Unless a person removes it then that IS what they will get when booting the computer. We're talking a Windows 10 computer, never saw it on my 7's and I don't have an 8.1 so can't say what shows on those Attachments:
