As many of you know from WS I use DuckDuckGo as my default search engine and have for quite awhile. It guarantees not to track you even when you’re in private browsing mode., it never stores or shares your personal information, they have NO ads, does not ever stores a search history so it has nothing to sell to advertisers. It does not track you period. They also have a superb Privacy Newsletter and I have subscribed to that for a long time. Today it offered what it calls Privacy Myths #4. I can’t be identified just by browsing a website. (If only!)
Its an extremely informative article with some fascinating links within that demonstrate how little privacy we really have today. Enjoy! |

I have been using Start Page for a couple of years. How do you think it compares to DuckDuckGo?

I have been using Start Page for a couple of years. How do you think it compares to DuckDuckGo? I believe it is certainly comparable, I have used it also. I just started with DuckDuckGo and have stuck with it. It has some other things you can do with it also, not sure if those things are available with StartPage or not. Some of them are I am sure, others are not With DuckDuckGo you can check the weather at virtually any place in the world and get an instant weather read out and forecast. If you are having trouble getting into a web site you can check to see whether it is down or not. You can type in a zip code and get a location and a map You can use it for a stopwatch If you want coupons you simply type in coupons and the brand name you need. It will give you the coupons These are just a few of the extras offered by DuckDuckGo |

Is there a specific weather section for DGG ?
I can key in the name of my town + weather and get results similar to google.
I can not find any weather checking feature other than a normal search.

A very interesting article and i found the ClickClickClick link fascinating but a little concerning. I know that privacy can be difficult to protect when one is online and this confirms it even more so. Thank you for sharing. As for DuckDuckGo. Do you find that the results given compare favourably against other search engines such as Google and Bing? |

No there is not a special weather checking section in DDG. All the things I mentioned are done via the search box. I find DuckDuckGo search results compare favorably against all other search engines, I wouldn't use it if it did not. The results seem to be better organized for one thing. I have not used google in several years. I only have used Bing a few times and didn't like it at all. |
