The Falkirk Wheel is an amazing piece of engineering here in Scotland. It is used to lift boats up and down between The Union Canal and The Forth and Clyde Canal in Central Scotland. This is a movie I made about 8 years ago. photos.app.goo.gl/HgMsMM4UKSIFzfqy2Enjoy!

Fascinating AND I was pleased to see things and places that I have seen on some of my favorite Dramas from U.K. TV. My husband & I are almost addicted to British dramas. Several we have watched have had characters living in similar boats on the canals. Exciting to see.

Because the two arms of the wheel contain the same amount of water, the electrical power needed to rotate it is about the same as an electric kettle.

Company based in the U.S. We have been subscribing to it for a while now and we love it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this Barney. Showed it to my husband too and asked him if he recognized anything and he said, "look, that is where that killer lived on the boat in that show we watched last month!" LOL.

We were hooked on Upstairs/Downstairs on Masterpiece Theater and it went on from there. Besides PBS we watch them on Amazon Prime with a Firestick and NetFlix and BBC America. We have seriously considered subscribing to Acorn, and I am sure we will, just haven't done it yet. Lots of the programs available on Acorn are available on PBS too, especially shows from New Zealand.

What is the elevation change from one level to the other, here in Illinois on the Illinois river the change is about 19 feet, but they do it with gates and pump the water in and out. This is about 30 miles from me, and is about 90 miles south/west to the next set of locks in Peoria Il., one of the longest distance between locks on the Il. river. The 3rd. photo (looking south) shows Starve Rock in the trees which is on the south side of the river and at the south end of the dam, the locks are on the north side of the river. www.johnweeks.com/river_illinois/pages/illLD3.html
