I personally don't really have a problem with using Facebook.
I have the security settings as I want them.
It is my long lost friend who has the problems.

I thought maybe the first link may give some solutions to your request for alternatives.
I also do not intend to delete my account. My belief is that any other similar social network would not be free of problems either.
I've been using Google for long enough for them to know all they can collect from my cyber activity.

i have been a face book use for years and have had no problems .i just opened the link
