I got a notice that Windows had a security update for Windows Defender. I went to Windows Security & Updates and did the update. The update was done so fast that I questioned if an update was done. So I reentered the Security & Update screen and found a notice the Spring Update 1803 was ready to be installed. I authorized the update and Windows did its thing. The process was surprisingly fast, included several black screens, the DO Not Turn Off computer screen and percentage complete countdown wrapped around the mandatory reboot.
The version number after the update is 1803 Build 17134.1.
Off to check it out a bit, but based on what I have read I'm not expecting anything very useful to me has been added.
Has anyone gotten the update yet? Anyone find something good/bad/must-have in it? Anyone having any issues with the update (mine went real smooth)?

Both of my machines have updated. When I opened Update and Security setting they both said the update was available. I did not find it especially fast. From start (preparing to download, download, preparing to install, install) through to Restart Required was 3 hours. The Blue screen advising not to turn off took approx 1 1/2 hours - so 4 1/2 in total. On the HowToGeek site I read "According to Microsoft’s tests, the “offline” update time—that is, the time you have to wait while staring at an “Updating” screen after rebooting your computer—has gone from an average of 82 minutes to 30 minutes." Not for me ! I presume during the first part of preparation and downloading it is possible to carry on using the machine. I was surprised to see Home Group was gone but seems things that I had shared between accounts and computers have remained shared. All appears to be working normally thus far. and there is plenty of information about what is new in the Tips app which appears to have installed with the Update.

My complete update process took just over 2 hours from start to finish. I do have a fast internet connection (just tested at 177 mbps download speed), fast processor and lots of RAM which also helps.
I just updated my laptop with the Spring 2018 update- start to finish elapsed time was 82 minutes less the time it was waiting for me to tell it to update now (I started the update and went to ate lunch while watching the noon news on TV - don't know how long it was waiting for me to respond to the update request).

Just received mine. From beginning to end it took exactly 2 hours and 57 minutes. All went very well.

My update seems to be stuck at 63% installation. Been that way for about three hours.

Hopefully you will not be the first. I agree with budgall. Just let it do its thing. Remember Eve's took over 4 and 1/2 hours. Mine took 2 hours + 57 minutes and budgall's 2 hours. Don't know your internet speed but I think that may play a part in it. Be aware, after it gets to the 100% then the restarts will begin. I got a large message telling me that I had to start the process by either choosing to do it later, or choose a time to do it or restart to begin the process right then. I chose begin the process. It shut down and restarted up to a blue screen with the message Completing Install Don't Turn Off Computer and a percentage showing of how far along the process had reached. All in all, beginning with that first shut down/restart there were 4 or these until it finally booted all the way up and I got the Edge page where I could see what was new in this version. Be sure of course not to use the computer at all until everything is complete.

Your print screen shows the install action Before it begins the shut down/restart portion. That part and the install took the most time.

Glad to hear that you had a successful update. The laptop took nearly six hours to complete. Only down side is a plug in WiFi dongle no longer works. Had it since the laptop was Windows 8 so no complaints. New dongle ordered from Amazon.

Did my laptop a couple of days ago. The one for Defender as there and the other update went thru about 80% than started over. Took about as long to update as it did to download. About 3 hours total on an 8.0 download speed. No problems.

Well, here we go again. The Cumulative update KB4093112 will not complete installation. The other updates apparently did complete, but the Cumulative KB4093112 has failed 4 times, so far. I'm so disgusted with having a problem every time there's a significant update. I tried the Windows troubleshooter and it said it found and fixed problems, but then I got the "We couldn't complete installation" notification. I am probably just going to wait until Microsoft corrects itself.
I guess I just wanted to let off some steam.

KB4093112 is not the Spring Update (which is in effect a whole new OS) KB4093112 was released on April 10th and is a regular cumulative update. With automatic updates you should have been offered this update much sooner than now. I do understand how frustrating this is. Perhaps just wait until your Spring Update is available for you to download which should in theory negate all previous problems. You may want to begin a new thread that is specific to your problem installing this particular KB4093112 update - someone may be able to offer suggestions

Many people don't know this, but you can call Microsoft and speak to a techie without them charging you. I had a problem a year ago with an update and called and spoke to someone. She was no help, but perhaps you'll get someone who is.
Don't hold me to this, but I believe the number is: 1 (800) 642-7676 They are available at inconvenient times if you live on East coast, but it is Microsoft and it is free. They can actually do alot to check into the problem (my techie did) and perhaps you'll have better luck than I did. I finally got my update resolved by removing all the dongles on my computer and running the update again. Weird, I know but someone online suggested it and it worked for me. I've suggested it to others to no avail. Good luck. I'm curious if it helps.

Mary Following instructions in the link below may be an alternate solution to your update problem. I have used this method on prior updates without issues. I would recommend a complete system backup prior to doing the update. It's better to be safe than sorry. www.neowin.net/news/heres-how-to-install-the-windows-10-april-2018-update-on-day-one

Regarding Microsoft's support, I had problems with the April 10th update on a computer that I bought at Costco about 5 years ago (It wouldn't complete the installation).
I called Costco's Concierge Service and when they couldn't fix my problems, they put me trough to a Microsoft tech, and they not only fixed my problem, but installed the Spring update as well. As you said, there was no charge, and I got a very good technician that did a great job. I guess with Microsoft as with other tech sites, it's the luck of the draw as to how proficient the technician you get will be.
