This is different then when I last asked for help so hope I can stumble through. A while ago for some reason I lost my Home Group connection between my Desk top and Laptop. Last night I could access the internet from my laptop. Today I went to print a document from the laptop (printer is connected through the desktop) and it said I needed to install driver for printer so I did that. Then it printed my document. Then when I went to connect to the internet it says they have trouble finding the site. It will not connect to anything on line. I use firefox. Laptop is Asus X53E Desk Top is HP Pavilion P6616F (side information I'm connected with Hughes Net. They connected the desk top last year through Ethernet using their modem/router. Then the laptop was connected through WiFi, and everything worked fine. On the modem/router all the lights are on that are suppose to be, and thank goodness my desk top will connect to the internet. I looked under settings = View Network Properties - says Ethernet - operational WiFi - not operational, Connectivity 1PV4/1 PV6 - disconnected MS Hosted Network Virtual Adp. not operational - Connectivity 1PV4/1 PV6 - disconnected. If you need more information please tell me where to get it and I'll do my best. Thank you for any help you can give me. Char

If you have updated to the Spring 2018 update, Home Group is no longer supported by Microsoft. You will need to reconfigure your network. This may be part of your problem.

Computers did some updates so that may be the update. First I need to get the laptop to connect to the internet., any directions on where to start? Thanks

Go to Control Panel. Locate and open Network and Sharing Center. You should be able to view and possibly adjust your network settings from there or set up a new connection.

Now I would like to be able to communicate between laptop and desktop. I'll switch to another thread which is what is suggested I think. Thanks Char It would be very, very helpful if you would please give the information on how you solved this problem. You are certainly not the only person having this problem and by explaining how you fixed it will help others. That is the point of a forum, giving and receiving assistance to and from others. Just saying you were able to get on the internet with your laptop doesn't help others. What would help is tell us How?
