For some reason my Avira Anti Virus will not work. I click on the icon, and nothing happens. I tried going to the site you have listed to down load a new version thinking I would download it and then delete the one on my computer before installing the new one. When I went to the site you have listed it said 504 gate way time out. Can someone tell me what may be wrong? Thanks Char

Make that 3 times with same results. Would it be ok to use File Hippo site to down load it, I seems to be able to get it showing at that site? Also are my thoughts correct in uninstalling all the old avira version and than installing the new one? Thanks for any replies. Char

Based on the fact that just one month ago you had problems making internet connections and now this problem at this point I would NOT download a new copy of Avira and I would NOT uninstall the current one. You never really explained how you know it is not working. Is the umbrella closed?
You have at least two computers, does the other computer get the same error when trying to connect to the Avira link?
The 504 error usually indicates a problem with YOUR server or your network devices like modem, router and NOT the website you are trying to contact. Have you rebooted all of your hardware including modem, router, computer?
What browser are you using? Have you tried using a different browser?
Incorrect proxy settings can cause 504 errors. Check the settings in your browser. Most people do NOT need or use a proxy.
You can run tracert to see where in the connection process the timeout is occurring.
Go to Start / All Programs / Accessories / Command Prompt and double click to open it.
Type tracert <enter the URL to the website giving you the error> and enter. Then you should get the information you need. Write down what it says and come back here and post it.
The problem also could be caused by YOUR ISP and it is likely they are working to fix it.
