I've downloaded mp4 files from YouTube before with little difficulty .
This afternoon, I received a message that my downloaded file (via ComputerHope) was an (1) unsupported type, (2) had an unsupported extension, or (3) "the file was corrupt." (See attachment.)
Can anyone offer a suggestion based on these facts that would help me in trying to save and view this downloaded MP4 file?

The error code generally means that the file is corrupt. No way to make a corrupt file play. Have you deleted that file and tried to download it again? If not then do that first. If you have successfully downloaded other videos over the years then this one file may be no good.
Give the exact full address of where you are getting the download and let somebody here try and please be a bit more clear. You say the file is a YouTube file but then you say download was "via ComputerHope" so I presume you mean the ComputerHope YouTube site please give us the name of the video you are attempting to download.
If nobody can get it then that means the file is no good and the problem lies with whomever created this file.

Okay, I followed your suggestion, chose the Open With option, and selected Windows Media Player. This procedure worked, and I am delighted with both the sound and the "picture" of the video (the visual part of the video). ComputerHope.com is the address of the website where I select the YouTube video to download, but en.savefrom.net is the address where I download the video.
Cheers, Jasmine

Jasmine, you really aren't going to get must assistance by just quoting somebody's previous post. You gave none of the requested information. You do not have to quote a post in order to post yourself. Just hit the reply button and type in the box that opens and answer questions you have been asked and unless you do that this thread is worthless.

Believe Jasmine did reply (post 3) within the body of the quoted response of post 2. It’s the 2nd paragraph which she concluded with signature and post greeting of : “ Cheers, Jasmine
But it takes a couple readings and verifying of the quoted material to actually realize that there is a response within the body of the quoted paragraphs .... certainly agree with Judy that a response needs to be solely posted or if a quote is used, PLEASE POST YOUR ANSWER UNDER THE QUOTED MATERIAL SO READERS CAN READILY FIND YOUR RESPONSE. .... Not just singling out Jasmine but all of us in posting responses so readers can easily see our response or information and not have to compare info contained in several posts to be able to see what the responses actually are or that they actually do exist..... 🤤

Re Reply #4. Thank you bigtoe. You are 100% correct. All I saw was my quoted reply and was unaware of jasmine's reply with it. Thanks so much bigtoe for pointing that out. Sad thing about doing this the way it was done is that it's likely that others missed her response too.
You also are correct, jasmine is not the only person who has done or does this so I will repeat YOUR advice here:
"...if a quote is used, PLEASE POST YOUR ANSWER UNDER THE QUOTED MATERIAL SO READERS CAN READILY FIND YOUR RESPONSE."

Yes, now I know where to respond to a previous post, after quoted material. Thanks to all for clarifying where I (and other users?) should respond.

Yes, other users have done the same as you did and yes their replies were missed by others and it was not until others requested that they answer previous questions that the poster came back and noted that they had answered the question within the reply.
This reply from you with quoted material is correctly done though an increase in font size isn't necessary. Thanks, Judy
