Firefox is my default browser (see attachment)
On clicking Ctrl-N, which normally opens up a new Firefox window, Bing opens up. If Firefox is my default browser, can someone say how I can assure that Firefox opens up.
My understanding was that Firefox used to be superior to Internet Explorer -- because it did not allow Active-X controls. Does someone know if this is still true with regard to Bing?

Bing is a search engine Not a browser so there is no way to compare it with Firefox. Firefox is of course still safer than Internet Explorer, plus Micosoft has stopped development of Internet Explorer in favor of their new browser Edge.
What is your Home Page? What is your default search engine?
Activex is a Microsoft product and not available with any other browser except Internet Explorer, it also is not available for Microsofts new default browser Edge.

Google.com is now my default homepage, and Firefox is now my default browser, acc. to Tools>Options in Firefox. Google is my default search engine.

I truly have no clue as to what your problem is because you say, "Google.com is now my default homepage"...NOW? What was it before?
You also say, "and Firefox is now my default browser, acc. to Tools>Options in Firefox"....NOW? Your original print screen showed very clearly that Firefox is your default browser. So what do you mean...NOW?
So I still don't understand where it is that you are seeing Bing. You have not shown it anywhere. As I said earlier Bing is NOT a browser, it is a search engine like google, duckduckgo, but it is NOT a browser. Please show us where you see Bing with a print screen because, sorry, I am not certain what you are talking about since you say that Google is your default search engine so Bing should not show anywhere.

Bing was displaying when I typed Ctl-N. (I myself didn't select Bing as my default search engine.) Now, on typing Ctl-N, the Google search engine displays. :-)
I can only speculate on why Bing displayed when I typed Ctl-N.
Thanks for the suggestions.
