My computer went into a "stall" this afternoon: It took several minutes for the Task Manager to display. (Just before the stall, I noticed a message, "A webpage is slowing down your browser.")
I closed out Firefox and went into the Windows Defender Security Center, which said no action was needed for either Virus & Threat Protection and Firewall & Network Protection.
Have other users here had a good computer experience with Windows Defender Security Center? My own estimate of a virus risk is low; I don't download files usually and when I do dowload files, I always scan them with Windows Defender.

The message you received had absolutely nothing to do with a virus.
It is not unusual for a browser to have a web page slow it down. It is often caused by bad coding on the page or possibly a video that is trying to play, having too many tabs open at one time, any number of things.
If this happens just close the browser completely and re-open it. That should solve your problem.
Windows Defender has gotten very good reviews and test results with the most recent tests by
The only place where registered problems on both tests was excessive False Positives. Much higher than any of the other AV programs tested. It's protection result on both test scores was excellent
Are you using any other av program or just Microsoft Windows Defender?
