Just wondering if anyone knows if using Firefox or Chrome that's already installed will be a problem with the Microsoft October update.

Not sure why you would think this would cause a problem. I use Firefox, frankly wouldn't touch Chrome with a 10 foot pole but that is just me. I've had no trouble at all. Edge comes pre-installed on the computer. From what I understand this really isn't even something new. Windows 10 has always had possible prompts that try to get users to use Edge. Though I have never, ever had some sort of ad on Firefox or prompt telling me to use Edge. You can turn off prompts.
I do use Edge very often though and I like it a lot.
From all other columns I have read this is NOT a done deal, they are TESTING this period. Plus this really isn't even something new. These types of prompts have been included on Windows 10 since its release.
This is NOT something, IF it happens and that is a big IF, that would stop you from another browser it will just be a prompt reminding you that you have the option to use EDGE. Don't borrow trouble when there really isn't any.

Found the same in several places too. Had to laugh on the comment about using google on edge and the prompt you receive from google to use Chrome. I have gotten that same prompt using google maps on Firefox and google maps on Opera. I don't use google search as all here know but generally do use the google maps for directions and the like. So truly, Microsoft is certainly NOT alone in these tactics.
