Than You Judy, i went in there but don`t know what to select. I`m on Firefox 62 if that helps. The link I gave you takes you directly to the RAR opener, nothing to choose, there is only ONE file offered and it has nothing to do with the browser. This is a stand alone app. It isn't used in the browser. If you go to the link I gave you scroll down and you will see this:
Click on the Blue Button that says "GET". You will then be taken to the download page where you will then click on "GET" again. This will give you the app.

Did that i signed in correctly but it keeps saying encountered an error try later. There is no need to sign in unless you want to use it on multiple connected devices. Just select No Thanks or whatever it says and download it.
I just did it that way without any difficulty. Took maybe 30 seconds. It downloads directly to Windows Apps

There`s no No thanks there. Did you use the link I gave you? Do you have a Microsoft Account? It is possible that since you did try to sign in then you will no longer receive the option to not sign in to download apps.
Any time I download apps I always get this option after I click the GET button and I always choose No Thanks because I don't want to share it with other devices for one thing and also I never have signed up for a Microsoft Account and don't intend to do that. It isn't required to use the app store.

Yes did the link maybe if i close the account completely but it`s not easy to find. That is very, very drastic for just one little file. You might try 7-Zip. It should work, I think. You must absolutely, positively download the correct file for your machine, either 32 bit or 64 bit, only you would know which one would be correct.

If it is just a one-off RAR file you need to extract and you don't wish to download anything you may like to use this online extractor. I have not used it myself but it gets good reviews and appears to be safe. online.b1.org/onlineThey also have an app that can be downloaded and installed on your machine

I agree with Judy. Why not use 7-zip instead? It is so easy to use and it works perfectly on my Windows 10 pc.

I would not recommend this program. I downloaded it from the one and only safe site out of five shown on the page. I did NOT install it but did run the file through 3 online scanners that use up to 45 different scanners in order to scan files like this one. 4 different av programs found malware in the file. Can I guarantee these results? No I cannot and every single site that I used to do these scans also said this or something very similar: all had more than one scanner that flagged this file then I personally would not use it, especially to open just one .rar file.

I have to tell you, my friend came over and did something, i`ve no idea what, and solved it, too technical for me. Thanks to all who made an effort to help. Thanks for letting us know it is fixed. Hope you can do us a favor here and that is next time you see your friend ask him/her to either write down what was done so you can then post it in this thread OR if your friend is at your home then you come in here, open a reply in this thread and ask that he/she write exactly what was done to fix things for you. That's how you pay it forward to others -- namely, by explaining what was actually done to fix the problem because likely as not it WILL help somebody else who has the same question.
