Numerous publications on the web are writing about the rare fact that Microsoft is pulling/stopping the update of Windows 10 version 1809 as many folks have reported losing data on their computers.... some have lost as much as 220 GB of documents, photos and music from their hard drives after the update.. Microsoft is flustered as there were many testers of the beta versions of the update and most had not experienced the loss of data from their computers..... Those that did not have full backups or didn't sync their data with Microsoft OneDrive are users that have lost the most (unrecoverable data)... Microsoft has pulled the auto update from Windows 10 Home Edition since those folks had no ability to stop the update from occurring. Unfortunately for some with the loss, the ability to "roll back" the update was lost due to the loss of data.
Those that have lost data are folks that manually sought and installed the Microsoft Windows 10 October Update 1809. None of the articles I have read indicate a time period of delay since Microsoft has no current ideas as to why so many experienced the loss of data..... Microsoft has suggested calling them directly via a local customer service phone numbers if you are the victim of this data loss bug.
To read any article do a simple browser search of "Windows 10 Update 1809 problems" or a similar subject matter inquiry and take your pick of reading material or look at ZDNet or Gizmodo sites, amongst others.
Both of my Windows 10 computers have "been asleep" for a week and auto updates aren't supposed to be rolling out until around October 9th. I've only been using Apple devices so have been fortunate to have not lost anything, although both devices are associated with OneDrive backup accounts so no problems likely.
