I just got a notice that there was a java update available. Do I need this update or not. It was not on my old comp. for quite some time.

Probably time to run Malwarebytes since Java is no longer supported on Firefox since 2017, nor on Edge nor Chrome.... but the malicious malware "install java update" popup usually from adware is still around trying to trick folks into installing malicious troubles..... Pretty sure I recall you mention running Firefox on your new computer so don't need Java..... EDIT: Actually you can take a look at this page to see that Java isn't really needed or used, except by IE11 (and who really uses that browser anymore?) and why you most likely don't want to click on that popup that you got .... www.makeuseof.com/tag/java-security-risk/

You should UNINSTALL java, just deleting it will not remove it. If you change your mind in the future, you can reinstall it.

You should UNINSTALL java, just deleting it will not remove it. If you change your mind in the future, you can reinstall it.
Java was uninstalled. I used Revo uninstaller to do it.

Java was uninstalled. I used Revo uninstaller to do it.
Sorry, but when you stated you deleted it, I just assumed you had not fully uninstalled it. Thanks for the clarification.
