I have been backing up my laptop to external hard drives manually, whenever I get around to it. Now, I would like to make use of the Windows backup and schedule backups on a regular basis. Will the backup occur if my laptop cover is closed and the computer sleeps or do I have to keep the computer from going to sleep? I have also been using several free backup programs which, I think, can also automate the procedure.
