This is a neat program that HP came out with. "HP Instant Ink" You do need a HP printer that has software that is compatible with the program.
They keep you supplied with ink at no charge. I pay $2.99 for 50 pages of pages. $35.88 a year you can't buy ink that cheap. There other plans such as 100 pages for $4.99. Any pages that are left over at the end of the month are rolled over. You can keep up to 100 pages in the roll over folder. It automatically keeps track of the ink supply and when the cartridges are getting low it sends more.
When you sign up for a plan it doesn't start charging until you have used up the regular ink that came with the printer. Then just replace the cartridges that they had already sent when you signed up.
Another feature it will stop printing and let you know that one of the cartridges is empty and to replace it. I was printing a 40 page document with plenty of colored photos for my daughter, it stopped printing and alerted me. It said the yellow cartridge is empty please change it. I replaced the cartridge, closed the cover and it took about 3-4 minutes doing it's dance calibrating the new cartridge then it went back to printing. That saved a lot of paper that wasn't being printed without the right colors.
I did use the 100 page one when I was an executor of my brothers estate because I had to print plenty of documents from the lawyer and the courts for the 4 people in the will.
With 5 grandkids and 7 great grandkids I print lots of photos. An 8 1/2 x 11 photo counts as one page and it only costs me 6 cents and the cost of the paper. It might not be good for someone that only prints in black, but for me it's great
