An interesting read, it appears that users no longer need to "safely remove" USB devices if their Windows 10 is on the newer builds. I have always done the safely remove process, I wonder if I will be able to break that habit. Probability not as I still have multiple computers running Windows 7.

When they are done, I just unplug them and put them in their little cubbyhole on my computer desk. been doing that since the days of 98.
