Out of the blue in one swoop Firefox has just now deactivated my only add-on (Adbock) and my few downloaded themes, saying "These extensions do not meet the current Firefox standards so have been deactivated" On clicking the "Find a replacement" button and searching for an Adblock replacement my original Adblock for Firefox appears as well as Adblock Plus and both of these are also said to be not meeting the current standards. I don't understand why they have them their on their own site if they are not able to be used.
When I try to install any new themes the message comes up "Download failed please check your connection."
There is nothing wrong with my connection, I would not be able to get to their site of there was, or post this comment. I don't know what is going on ! I think I will defect to Edge or go back to Maxthon!

Millions around the world, including me, also had this problem but this has actually been fixed as of this morning. Here is information directly from Mozilla, please note what you must do in order to fix this. I am not sure that all can read this because you need to subscribe in order to do so but if you want to read it directly from the page below after you get there you must either subscribe but since I am a subscriber I have copy/pasted the information given here:
Since I already had Studies enabled of my extensions are back and working without problems. So if you don't have this enabled you will need to turn it on, using the instructions above, in order for the fix to take place.
Hopefully this will end the problem for good.

Thank you Judy. I have enabled the run studies thing and will now wait and see ! A temporary message on the addons and extensions pages would have been quite helpful to inform users.
My Firefox was perfectly alright for about an hour when I opened it tonight before it lost its bits !

My Firefox was perfectly alright for about an hour when I opened it tonight before it lost its bits ! It happened to me last night. Like you I was stunned. Yes, would have been nice to receive a notification from them but considering they fixed it in less than 12 hours I think that is pretty good. The first post about this in their forum was posted at 7 p.m. U.S. Eastern time, in two hours they noted that they were aware of the problem and the cause, and a fix was in the works and the fix itself was posted back there at 4 A.M. Eastern Time. Nine hours, not bad.

They posted on Twitter to apologise and explain. Of course they could not post of Facebook as they discontinued the facebook page over a year ago - they only had 18 million followers ! I have just been able to reinstate a theme but Adblock is still blocked. I will attempt to redownload it or ABP. I'm sorry to sound crabby but so they should fix it promptly , after all they caused it ! I has not been an issue for me, just a surprise and never thought to google as it all seemed official with the explanations about legacy add ons etc and all the download pages looked normal. . I have a Shockwave Flash add on that I have configured to ask to activate and it was not affected. Alls well that ends well

I have a Shockwave Flash add on that I have configured to ask to activate and it was not affected. Alls well that ends well I have been a member on their forums for years so I went there right away which was probably just a few minutes after the first post was posted and saw the problem posted. When I first looked they only knew there was a problem but not what caused it. In just under two hours they posted that they did know the cause and just had to work on a fix that would work for everyone. Personally I think that is fast Plus, they DO work on Fixes immediately. Other software makers do not do so that quickly. Many don't even pay attention when people have problems with their programs. Mozilla Always does and if they cannot fix something they will always at least come up with a workaround so I have no complaints.
I kept an eye on it all evening and when I got up this morning I checked my Extensions and found what I show in my attachment not the message received last night. All I had to do was enable them all. My Shockwave was not affected at all. It was just Extensions and some themes.

The two add-ons I tried to reinstall first gave me the error message about check connection, like above. I came here and saw the solution, so I enabled studies in Firefox. Now I'm getting a different error message, the same on both pages. the other page is giving me the original error message of checking connection. I checked and studies is still enabled. Did you see the information I just posted from Mozilla? Notice they say; That means at least six hours from the time that you turn on Studies.
Did you also follow the other instructions given in my most recent post?
To check if the fix has been applied, you can enter about:studies in the address bar. If the fix is active, you’ll see hotfix-reset-xpi-verification-timestampe-1548973
Do that and see if it shows as being applied. Remember, there are millions and millions of Firefox users so it may take awhile. It is not an instantaneous fix. It will take awhile go get to all copies of Firefox.

I nor this forum had anything to do with the fix, this was done by the team at Mozilla. I simply reported it.
Please do not delete your posts again. By deleting your post then it makes the thread confusing, especially since I actually answered your post. Thankfully I did quote your question so this hopefully will help lessen possible confusion generated by your removing your post.

And, after a restart and a minute or two, they are all back. Was a tough day without my extensions!

I only have two extensions. Adblocker and my password manager, Roboform. I haven't seen any problems with either of them.

If you were going to have problems you would have experienced them over 48 hours ago, in the middle of the night, very early Saturday morning for you but likely you were in bed when it happened. It was first discovered late Friday evening Eastern Daylight Time and Mozilla issued a temporary fix less than 9 hours later so it is possible that you slept through it all. A permanent fix was issued with the Update to Firefox to v. 66.0.4 late yesterday afternoon in the U.S.

Just an observation, and probably not much help. I used Firefox for years and was an extensions junkie, but I got sick of them forever changing the rules and destroying extensions. I now use Opera with three extensions (Opera's own ad blocker, Lastpass and Show Passwords) and am as happy as a pig in clover.

I now use Opera with three extensions (Opera's own ad blocker, Lastpass and Show Passwords) and am as happy as a pig in clover. Opera is a very nice browser and I use it occasionally as a change from Firefox (yes, my life is very boring !) with only its built in ad blocker (which works very well)
I have never been a fan of add-ons in any browser as from observation it often turns out to be an add-on that has caused problems.
I do not trust password managers either, although I do realize I am in the minority in that area. Any important passwords I manage to remember and less frequently used ones I keep in a program called Password Corral which is a stand alone item
I have used it for many years - I would recommend it to anyone.

Like you Eve, I have never used a lot of add-on, don't believe I have ever had over four as my earlier attachment showed. Sometimes I only had two, AdBlockPlus and Gmail Notifier. But definitely never more than four. Like you also, I have never trusted password managers. I do it the old fashioned way, I have passwords written down on paper in a notebook. Most of them I do remember anyway but just in case they are written down. Plus my husband uses some of the same web sites on his tablet (bank, insurance, pharmacy) and it is easier to save them in writing so he can see them if needed. But I am going to have a look at the program you recommended.
