I'm running Microsoft Office 2013 or at least have been for the last few years on this computer.
Now when I try to open Word or any Office program the following message shows up "The operating system is not presently configured to run this application." I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program both from the disk and from the Microsoft site but no luck. Checked for all and any updates but again that didn't work either.
So are there any ideas that I should try or sites that might help me fix this problem?
Thanks,
Craig

When you say you "deleted" the program do you mean just hitting delete to actually doing a full and complete Uninstall using Programs and Features?
When you checked for updates do you mean to Windows 10 or for Office 2013? What version and build of Windows 10 do you have? To check for this type winver into Search. You will be shown a box with the necessary information Have you tried running a repair of Office?
You might try the instructions given here;

I meant a complete uninstall and reinstall, checked for both Windows 10 and Office 2013 updates. My Office build is Version 1809 (OS Build 17763.503). I have tried running repair for Office both options on the repair screen.
Going to go to the link you posted and maybe I'll get lucky.
Thanks, Craig

My Office build is Version 1809 (OS Build 17763.503) Presume you mean your Windows version and build and not Office.
Sometimes these problems are also caused by non-Microsoft programs, applications or even add-ons to Office. Have you recently added any on of those things?
Here is another set of steps you might try;

Yep, meant Windows version. Tried the uninstall and reinstall which seemed a little different than what I did a couple of days ago. No luck again this time with the reinstall. I'll try the new link you posted, I have to get luck one of these days.

When you reinstalled was this a full, 100% reinstall with Product Key also?

Yes, the site asked for my Product Key first and then did a (it said complete) install. This is frustrating as my wife keeps telling me I should have bought a iMac like hers' "it keeps working and never gives me any problems and it's ten years old". Oh well back to the drawing board.

Just a shot in the dark here, can you access and work with Word while in Safe Mode?
When was the last time you used Word? Or any portion of the Office Program for that matter.

Tried safe mode per Windows instructions but didn't seen like safe mode to me and didn't work. Tried doing a reset point and that worked. Reset back to 5/3/2019 which was as far back as I could find for a reset point. When the computer restarted there were three (I think only three) messages that popped up saying to update programs. Didn't do the updates, figured I would do any programs that have updates one at a time and see which one causes the problem. At least that sounds like a good way to go on paper. Thanks for the help, Craig

You went back 16 days and even if you had some farther back there is no way I would recommend going back and further than that. Further back would really be pushing the limits. You are lucky that there are only three programs that told you to update. Windows had an update released this week so you likely will need to do that again also.
You absolutely are correct in updating one at a time AND be sure to completely restart immediately after each update. What programs say they need updates? Unless they are for security personally I wouldn't bother. What anti-virus program do you have installed?

Bitdefender is known to cause this issue and needs to be configured to allow office.

Another AV program noted as causing similar problems on multiple sites, including 3 or 4 Microsoft links, I read was Norton's generally after an update.

I was coming back to give an update on the problem and had to laugh after reading a new post. I was going to say that I found Bitdefender to be the cause but someone smarter than me beat me to the punch. Now to go and find out how to get Bitdefender to work with Office 2013. Wonder if I'll be having the same problem on my laptop running Bitdefender and Office 2010? Again thanks for all the tips and help. Craig

I don't use Bitdefender so I can't tell you how to do this, but know that that work around is to put all parts of Office 2013 in the exclusion option of Bitdefender

Can you tell us, and it would definitely help somebody else with the same problem, how did you narrow it down to Bitdefender?

Can you tell us, and it would definitely help somebody else with the same problem, how did you narrow it down to Bitdefender? Did a Restore Point and when the computer rebooted after setting up the restore three programs popped up saying they needed updates. I updated one program at a time, first one was Razer for the keyboard and updated with no problem. Second one was a battle ship game (only game on computer), updated, rebooted with no problem. Updated the third program, Bitdefender, and bingo Word stop working. Uninstalled Bitdefender and everything (not counting me) with Word (Office 2013) working the way it should work.
I haven't tried to set up Bitdefender to work with Office 2013 yet.
Hope this helps, Craig
