The Windows 10 May 2019 update is now available for download. If you can't wait you can do a Check for Updates and if available to you Microsoft will display a notice that an update to 1903 is available and give you an option to download and install it. If the option is not made available you can download and install using the media creation tool ( www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 ).
This morning I used the Media Creation Tool method to download and install the update on one of my computers. The entire process was simple and easy to do. I clicked the "Update Now" button on the Media Creation Tool website at 11:14 AM to start the process, at 11:18 AM the update was downloaded and the download was verified. At 11:18AM the Windows update process started and ran until it completed at 12:05PM. A computer reboot was started at 12:05PM and completed at 12:19PM with the login screen appearing on the monitor. After logging on it about 2 minutes for the computer to finalize the final update process. Upon completion I received a notice that Windows was unable to connect to all network drives. Two of three network drives connected OK but one did not. A quick mouse click on the unconnected drive reconnected it and all well.
The Windows build is shown as Version 1903 Build 18362.116 (Type "winver" in Windows search to your installed version of Windows) after the update.
Note: It is probably best that you wait until Microsoft offers the May 2019 update to you through the normal update process. In the past initial releases of major Windows Updates have been know to have issues. More than once, Microsoft has pulled back the released updates to fix major problems after their initial release. Also note I have a fast internet connection and pretty fast computers so you download times and installation times may be longer the the times I mention above.
Now its time to go see what the update broke or changed on my updated computer.
