I know several members here use Ashampoo Backup Pro 12 to backup their computers. One of my computers has been off line for a couple of weeks as I was awaiting for AMD to replace a faulty CPU that was under warranty. Today I received the replacement CPU, installed it and updated a bunch of software and drivers. After updating I decided to run a manual backup (normally my backup runs automatically every night). Upon starting the program a window popped up stating that a new version was available (12.05). Minor changes to the program plus changes to the create a restore/rescue disk. I plan to create new restore disks and suggest that if you are a user you should also create new restore disks.

I have been wondering whether to upgrade to Version 12. I have 10 and am happy with it. Looking at the 'improvements' in the newer version one of them is a "new improved windows based rescue system" I have the rescue discs for 10. I wonder what the difference is. It does not really say
The "New and self-explanatory user interface" does not interest me as I know my way around it ok and it is very easy to negotiate. Then there is "OneDrive Business / Office 365, Owncloud and Nextcloud support" which is not relevant to me at all and the only other improvement is " Backup Viewer: Convenient access to backed up files" The old way works perfectly - a virtual drive is launched and everything is there see easily.
There is an offer via the old version of just NZD22.40 instead of the usual NZD69.90 so it is tempting.
Budgall as a regular user of the programe what would you recommend ?

I like to keep software up to date especially software I use all the time. I have been using Ashampoo Backup Pro since Ashampoo purchased it from Ocster several years ago and was a long time customer of Ocster prior to the sale. In my opinion it is the best backup software available plus its affordable. I saw an ad last week where it was available for about $15.00 US.
If I was you I'd update to the latest version.

Thanks. $15US is about the same as NZD22.. I used Ocster for years also and transferred my membership over when it was sold. My actual version 10 says it’s up to date but I guess they don’t update old versions !
