Wonder if this is world wide, Everton uses Avast and she said she received the update on November 14th. Maybe the block doesn't apply in NZ.
According to the article it says to get around the block users have to download and install updated versions of which ever of the two av programs you use, she made no mention of doing this.

The block is not on all versions of Avast. I use the free version and it’s number is 19.8.2393. It is only 19.5 and lower that are affected. I did not need to update anything as I do so each time Avast notifies me of a program update.
The headline of the story is misleading.
1909 installed without any problems on both my pc and my laptop, both with Avast installed at the time.
