I've been giving Malwarebytes 4 a try. Brand new from the ground up apparently. Seems quite slow.

Are you using the premium version Barney ? It appears it is an anti-virus replacement so if you have not disabled your Norton Security it could be the reason for it being slow.

Edit: I think you may be correct Eve. It is free 'download' I have. All the frills expire after 14 days if I don't upgrade.
I have installed it on my club's computer, so my home machine is not affected.

All those "frills" mean it is the Full Premium Program Barney, meaning it IS also an Anti-virus program, Running All the Time in the background and very possibly causing a problem with your Norton. This HAS been the case since the Premium version 3. Free version of both is still just the on demand scanner.

Just update it thru the program itself. I have been doing it that way for years and never had a problem.

Using my link avoids being misled into installing the premium version. This would be for new users, otherwise if a person already has the program then updating through the program itself, as Bill noted, is the way to go. It removes the old version, installs the new version and that's it.
