I have an HP 8625 all-in-one inkjet printer. For years I've been unable to print 9A envelopes. These are the single fold 5 3/4 x 8 3/4 greeting card envelopes. No matter what Greeting card software program or MS Word, the envelope feeds properly and then the printer error says the paper doesn't match.
I've had this same problem with several different HP printers and there are many others who have the same complaint online.
I've tried using the Word>Mailings>Envelopes>Options>E5 and used the settings from the left and from the top, but I still got the same mismatch error.
Dose anyone know if there's a way to change the HP Printer settings? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Mary

I have looked through various envelope printing options on using Word, WordPad and several other options and none of those offer the settings to use envelopes of that size, in fact envelopes with those measurements were not listed anywhere that I could find except as an Invitation Envelope for commercial printing. Now you could try using Word with Custom Envelope size settings but there is no way I can guarantee that would work.
Correct name by the way is A-9 Invitation Envelope. But I have found no instructions for printing them with home owned printers, of any brand, other than the suggestion above.
Also, HP printers do not support that size of envelope. There is no way to change those specifications because that is the way the printers are designed. Note this attachment;

Judy,
I have tried using the customs envelope setting in Word, but it still had the same error. It just seems odd that sized envelope can't be printed since it is a pretty standard envelope size in most greeting card software programs. Anyway, thanks so much for trying to help,
Mary

Mary Sorry Mary. I personally would say that the fault lies with the greeting card software not with the printer manufacturers. Greeting card software is a software that often lags behind updates that have been to other programs, computers or printers. It could be in the past that printers were capable of printing that size of envelope but if it is used for only that one size of card then it also is hard to buy and really an extra bit of coding that printer software really doesn't need.
I know 20 years ago my older daughter, who is a graphic designer and an ad person designed my younger daughter's wedding invitations using a commonly available and used greeting card program BUT when she tried to print them she couldn't do it at home. She called the company who created the greeting card software and was told that even though a person could design it at home and even print the invitation the envelopes had to be printed using a commercial printer! Luckily she had access to a commercial printer in her office so she could do it for free but most people could not have done that and would have had to pay either the greeting card software company to print them, yes that was a "paid service" they offered, or you could pay a professional printer to do the envelopes. So this isn't new or even unusual.

Easy way round this is to buy some Avery Labels. These are easily available in different sizes from Amazon for instance.
Print your label and stick it on your envelope!

You may find something of help here Mary h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printers-Archive-Read-Only/HP-Officejet-Pro-8625-Printing-envelopes/td-p/4765874My own suggestion would be to open Wordpad then under File choose Page Setup and for the size select "Statement" (this is 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" which is close to the size you need) Make sure you have Landscape chosen and then adjust the margins for the address. I have successfully done this on an HP Deskjet 2540. It took a bit of experimenting to get the print in the correct place. The envelope went in longwise facing up with the flap at the back with fold on left (it is a rear load tray) My envelope was 6" x 8 1/2" For a front load tray I think the envelope would need to be face down.

Judy- I've also tried it using MS Word, and even though I set it up with MS Word parameters, The printer had the same error message.
Big Barney- I do use the Avery labels in order to use these envelopes, I'm just saying it seems like HP should design printers capable of printing such a standard envelope.
Everton- Just seems like an awful lot of effort, guess I'll just continue to use labels.
Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I really appreciate your input.
Mary
