After reading this, I decided to to download Edge to my 8.1 laptop as a backup browser. Since I have installed it, my laptop seems to take a very long time to start up every morning almost to the point that it seems to be hung up after entering my password to open Windows. I am thinking of uninstalling Edge since I didn't have this problem before but don't know how to go about it since I can't find and uninstall button to click. My only resort is either Control Panel Programs and Features, CCleaner Uninstaller or installing and using Revo which I downloaded but never installed after reading a recommendation that it was good to use to remove everything in an uninstall. Can you help me with this problem? I have but three years until my laptop will not be supported any longer and trying to hang on until then.

The normal/recommended way to uninstall any program would definitely be using Control Panel, Programs and Features, not sure why you would be leery in doing this, could you give us a reason? Edge however cannot be removed because it is built-in component of Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. Since the problem is a slow start up then there must be something auto starting which is causing the delay.
You can use Task Manager to see what is set to auto start. Or you can also use CCleaner. Open that program, go to Tools, Startup and it will show you what items are set to auto start when you boot the computer.

Guess I won't do anything yet. Can't figure out what is causing the problem. Thank you anyhow, Judy.

Using CCleaner Startups click once on the ones I have marked with an arrow to disable them from auto starting. Unless you have the paid versions they don't need to auto start Attachments:

Judy, just to let you know that I found out what my problem was; I had changed my password in installing the new Edge and this was causing the hangup in starting my laptop every morning. Action Center had flagged it and as soon as I entered the new password, problem solved. Thank you again for your help.

Doesn't matter if suggested steps were the fix or you figure the problem out yourself, just letting everyone know that the problem was fixed and how is truly the point of a forum like this...to get help and give help. Thanks!!
